Job summary

Summary

The Technical Instructor I Medical Simulations will use Mission Command Information Systems (MCIS) such as Command Post Computing Environment (CPCE) and Virtual Battlespace 3 (VBS3), Games for Training (GFT), and using low-overhead simulations drivers (e.g. DXTRS) deliver individual, collective and leader training to Government personnel to build collective and individual training readiness. Additionally, you will measure the effectiveness of training through collection and analysis of post-training assessments and after-action reviews to refine future training requirements and materials.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions


  • Effectively deliver instruction using MCIS and GFT technology in accordance with Army, Plan of Instruction (POI) and lesson plans (LPs) instruction and education methods while serving as the medical training SME to other MCIS trainers. DELIVERABLE: Training Rosters & Student Feedback Forms: Signed daily sign-in sheets verifying attendance and collected post-training assessment surveys from students to be submitted to the COR for each class or training event.

  • Contribute to the effective use of graphics, windowing, animation, feedback, and branch planning when designing and coordinating instruction. DELIVERABLE: Multimedia Courseware & Scenario Scripts: Published slide decks, simulation storyboards, and documented branch plans (e.g., scenario decision trees) incorporated into the POI.

  • Train Soldiers, leaders, and staff in warrior tasks, battle drills, various MCIS through individual and collective training, the warfighting functions and medical operations and processes. DELIVERABLE: Go/No-Go Evaluation Rubrics & Training Matrices: Completed individual or collective task evaluation checklists indicating the unit's proficiency level on specific battle drills and medical operations.

  • Assist Training Support Team in planning and preparation of mission command training and exercises in support of training readiness of Soldiers and units. DELIVERABLE: Exercise Planning Artifacts: Master Scenario Events List (MSEL) injects drafted, system configuration checklists, and Pre-Exercise Communication/System Check Reports.

  • Operate supported unit MCIS and conduct over the shoulder training for unit MCIS operators; provide specific expertise in MCIS, gaming, and simulations (particularly medical) as requested. DELIVERABLE: Coaching Logs & Technical SOPs: Daily observation logs capturing over-the-shoulder interventions, and Quick Reference Guides (QRGs) or SOPs developed for unit operators to follow.

  • Serve as an MCIS and Gaming Instructor SME to other MCIS trainers at JBSA. DELIVERABLE: Train-the-Trainer (T3) Documentation: Memos or rosters documenting cross-training sessions provided to peer instructors, and SME advisory reports/emails shared with the training team.

  • Able to cross-train and become proficient in other Army MCIS and simulations in support of individual through collective training. DELIVERABLE: Instructor Certification Records: Certificates of completion, internal training matrix updates, and formal evaluations validating the instructor's own proficiency on newly fielded systems. Submit digital copy to COR as completed or updated.

  • Supports training event EXCON/HICON/response cell operations, and AARs. Conducts leader/staff individual and collective command post, exercise, and institutional training IAW current doctrine and DATE / Operational Environment.

  • Reports to and takes direction from the Training Support Lead. DELIVERABLE: Monthly Status Reports (MSRs): Weekly or monthly activity reports detailing hours worked, classes taught, system issues resolved, and upcoming planning milestones.


Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge


  • Be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.

  • Possess excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.

  • Possess good interpersonal relationship skills necessary for establishing and maintaining a good learning and working environment with students and faculty.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Completed US Army Senior Leader Course or higher.

  • Completed formal course on one or more US Army MCIS.

  • Minimum two (2) or more years’ experience in military training/instruction.

  • SME in one or more Medical MCIS, tools, and training simulations, specifically S2MC, MC4, AHLTA, JMeWS/MSAT, and SMDS.

  • Experience in operations and training requirements of a Multifunctional Medical Battalion (MMB) or any Role II capable Medical Company, preferably while deployed.

  • Experience in operations and training requirements for a Battalion (or higher) command post.

  • Possess a current US SECRET clearance.

  • Be a US Citizen.

  • Minimum travel required: Trip Reports to be submitted to the COR within 5 days of TDY/travel.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Military service with experience in areas like those listed under required qualifications.

  • Overall familiarity with US Army training, operations, training aids, devices, simulators, and simulations (TADSS), and MCIS.

  • Experienced in the use of Army gaming (VBS3) and low overhead drivers (DXTRS) in stimulating MCIS individual and collective training.

  • Knowledge of Brigade and Battalion Staff and NCO led processes in Combined Arms Training Strategies (CATS) execution.

  • SharePoint or other collaboration tool experience.
