Job summary

Vertiv (NYSE: VRT) is looking for a Technical Instructor, Infrastructure Solutions to deliver technical training for field technicians, installers, customers, and service partners on Vertiv Infrastructure Solutions products, spanning electrical and mechanical disciplines. Qualifications

  • Two-year electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical technical degree or equivalent training/field experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on electrical and/or mechanical installation or field service experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical power distribution systems (switchgear, busway/busbar).
  • Foundational understanding of mechanical and high-density cooling systems for critical facilities.
  • Ability to read electrical one-lines, installation drawings, mechanical layouts, and P&IDs.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory or equivalent military trainer experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and virtual training platforms.
  • Positive attitude and adaptability in a fast-changing environment.

Job Description

The Technical Instructor, Infrastructure Solutions is responsible for delivering technical training for field technicians, installers, customers, and service partners on Vertiv Infrastructure Solutions (IS) products. These products span electrical and mechanical disciplines and include Vertiv™ SmartRun, Vertiv™ Prefabricated Power Solutions, busway, power distribution infrastructure, and emerging Infrastructure Solutions that support modern data center construction and deployment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Instruct field service safety and technical classes on power distribution, cooling distribution, and modular systems.
  • Prepare classrooms and lab areas.
  • Deliver classroom and virtual training to a variety of audiences of various experience levels.
  • Adapt course materials to support virtual training environments.
  • Create real-world, relevant training scenarios based on knowledge and experience gained over time.
  • Modify training delivery based on the experience level of the audience.
  • Model and enforce Vertiv safety guidelines at all times.
  • Maintain and enforce classroom conduct in accordance with published policies.
  • Drive the creation of relevant course materials.
  • Provide support for course development efforts, including product research, providing subject matter expertise, and training content review.
  • Create, update, and maintain teaching material and lab exercises based on feedback from Field Operations, Technical support, Engineering, and student surveys.
  • Participate in New Product Development (NPD) activities.
  • Perform training needs analyses.
  • Incorporate change notices and safety bulletins into training materials in a timely manner.
  • Maintain classrooms and training lab equipment in good working condition.
  • Assist in the management of lab equipment and lab activities.
  • Maintain safety and test equipment in proper working order and update tracking lists.
  • Maintain tools, spare parts, and lab equipment in proper working order.
  • Maintain the classrooms and lab areas.
  • Review and integrate feedback from installation teams to continually enhance training programs and methodologies.
  • Explore and implement new training techniques and approaches based on lessons learned and industry advancements.
  • Attend professional development opportunities and industry conferences to stay abreast of evolving installation practices and technologies.
  • Complete all administrative tasks accurately and in a timely manner, including travel-related documentation such as expense reports and trip reports.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of training sessions to assess effectiveness and gather insights for improvement.
  • Order training supplies and materials to enhance instruction programs.
  • Travel to training sites, customer locations, or Vertiv facilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two-year electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical technical degree or equivalent training/field experience.
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience in electrical and/or mechanical installation, commissioning, or field service within data center, industrial, or commercial environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical power distribution systems, including switchgear, busway/busbar, and related infrastructure.
  • Foundational understanding of mechanical and high‑density cooling systems supporting critical facilities (e.g., liquid cooling, piping basics).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical one‑lines, installation drawings, mechanical layouts, and P&IDs.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, adult learning theory and principles or equivalent military trainer experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical content clearly to adult learners.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and work independently.
  • Proficient PC skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and virtual training platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams).
  • Positive attitude, adaptability, and comfort operating in a fast‑changing, product‑launch‑driven environment.
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

While performing duties of the above jobs, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or other components; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear and smell. The associate frequently is required to sit and climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have ability to regularly lift at least 50 pounds.

TIME TRAVEL REQUIRED

30% travel expected.
