Job summary

Talan is seeking a System Engineer for a leading software company in the telecommunications and network optimization sector. The role focuses on software deployment, system integration, infrastructure support, and customer-facing technical activities in enterprise environments.

Hybrid work in Chicago (at least 3 days onsite per week). You will deploy and upgrade software, design architectures, provide support for databases and licensing, and develop automation scripts.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in CS, IS, SE or related field.
• 2–4 years in system administration, software deployment, infrastructure support, or database administration.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with virtualized environments.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
• Scripting experience (PowerShell, Python, or Bash).
• Excellent communication and customer-facing abilities.
• Ability to work across infrastructure, software, database, and cloud topics.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and upgrade software in customer environments.

Location: Chicago (Hybrid - at least 3 days onsite/week)

This position is open to candidates who are currently located in the Greater Chicago area.

One of our clients, a leading software company operating in the telecommunications and network optimization sector, is seeking a System Engineer to join its technical team. This role focuses on software deployment, system integration, infrastructure support, and customer-facing technical activities within enterprise environments.

Role and responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and upgrade software solutions in customer environments.
• Design and recommend optimal system architectures and deployment models.
• Provide technical support related to system integration, databases, licensing, and infrastructure.
• Deliver administration and technical training to customers.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts for deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting activities.
• Support pre-sales and post-sales technical engagements, including evaluations, proof of concepts, installations, and production support.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.

2-4 years of experience in system administration, software deployment, infrastructure support, or database administration.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Experience working with virtualized environments.

Knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly AWS.

Scripting experience, ideally with PowerShell, Python, or Bash.

Excellent communication skills and ability to interact directly with customers.

Ability to work across infrastructure, software, database, and cloud-related topics.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with enterprise software deployment and support.
• Knowledge of automation platforms and workflow orchestration.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Previous customer-facing or consulting experience.
