Job summary

AAR Corp is seeking a Technical Illustrator I in Greensboro, NC to prepare illustrations for technical manuals and related documentation. The role requires reviewing engineering data and applying ART standards to ensure quality in illustrations used in manuals.

Qualified candidates will have at least an associate degree in visual arts or related field, or relevant experience, and strong English communication skills.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Visual Arts or related field, or relevant work experience.
• 1 year of experience as a technical illustrator or equivalent.
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Experience with Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, and Illustrator preferred.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD design and drafting software preferred.
• Aircraft-related illustration experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Technical Illustrator I - 18821

Description

Prepare illustrations used in the development of technical manuals, supplements, and other technical documentation as needed.

What you will be responsible for

• Research and review engineering drawings, engineering orders, and related technical data defining aircraft modifications and component specifications and determine their effect on technical illustrations used in ART documents.
• Develop expertise in technical illustration methods used at ART.
• Uphold FAA, EASA, customer, and ART standards of quality.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of Technical Publications department procedures related to illustrations including quality control, workflow, and tools.
• Develop strong understanding of ART policies and procedures.
• Coordinate in a professional manner with internal customers to promote and support organizational business interests.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Associates degree in Visual Arts or related technical field or relevant work experience may be substituted.
• One (1) years’ experience as a technical illustrator.
• Must have good oral, written, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be fluent in English read, write, speak and understand.
• Experience with Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, and Illustrator applications (or equivalents) preferred.
• Familiarity with AutoCad design and drafting software preferred.
• Aircraft-related technical illustration experience preferred.
• Familiarity with aircraft technical manuals such as MM, IPC, SRM, etc. and the ATA iSpec 2200 format preferred.
• Experience with transport category aircraft referred.
