Job summary

The Swift Group, LLC in Maryland seeks an HPC Technical/Functional Expert to design, maintain, and optimize high‑performance computing systems in Annapolis Junction. You will provide advanced support to ensure reliability, scalability, and peak performance of HPC environments.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting and tuning HPC software and Linux systems, collaboration with cross‑functional teams, and maintaining documentation.

Qualifications

• 10 years’ experience in large, complex IT environments with HPC and systems expertise.

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, or 15 years of equivalent experience.
• Experience with HPC MPP systems and enterprise Linux (Red Hat/SUSE).

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced troubleshooting, tuning, and support for HPC infrastructure and applications such as Nagios, xCAT, and compilers.
• Manage distributed computing using RES, LSF, and SLURM workload managers.
• Administer high-performance parallel file systems (XFS, GPFS, Lustre).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize performance and fault tolerance.
• Develop and maintain system configuration docs and troubleshooting guides.
• Perform system testing and validation to ensure scalable operations.

Job Description

The HPC Technical/ Functional Expert will design, maintain, configure, optimize and provide advanced level support to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and scalability of HPC systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced-level troubleshooting, tuning, and support for:
  • HPC infrastructure and associated applications including Nagios, xCAT, failover software, and compilers.
  • Distributed computing environments utilizing RES, LSF, and SLURM workload managers.
  • Enterprise Linux operating systems, specifically Red Hat and SUSE.
• Administer and support high-performance parallel file systems such as XFS, GPFS, and Lustre.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices for system performance, resource utilization, and fault tolerance.
• Conduct system testing and validation to ensure seamless integration and operational efficiency.
• Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

Required Skills

• 10 years’ experience working in a large complex IT environment providing functional industry expertise with the skills listed above.
• A bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, 15 years of experience working in a large complex IT environment providing industry functional expertise with the skills listed above.
• Experience with HPC MPP systems
• Experience with enterprise Linux operating systems, specifically Red Hat and SUSE

• A current government clearance, background investigation, and polygraph are required.

Pay Range: $49,996.80 - $290,004.00
