Job description

Technical Field Specialist is a customer-facing role responsible for delivering hands‑on technical expertise, supporting product implementation, and contributing to business growth. Working closely with customers and cross-functional teams, this position helps resolve technical challenges, supports product trials and evaluations, and ensures successful onboarding of new business opportunities. Through regular customer engagement and field visits, the role strengthens customer relationships, identifies opportunities for growth, helps drive long‑term customer success and acts as front line technical resource to identify and address customer challenges.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure compliance with all Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures while working at company and customer locations.
  • Actively participate in EHS training, safety observations, hazard identification, and related safety initiatives.
  • Foster, develop, and implement Continuous Improvement (CI) activities through all facets of the business.
  • Ensure a proactive approach to product quality, GMPs, and quality of workmanship.
  • Support new business onboarding activities to ensure smooth implementation, customer readiness, and successful product adoption.
  • Coordinate and execute product testing, customer trials, sample evaluations, customer‑driven improvement activaties, while documenting results and feedback.
  • Proactively gather field feedback related to product performance, customer requirements, and market needs to support continuous improvement.
  • Develop a customer field monitoring schedule by aligning with teammates to ensure excellent field support and customer service/
  • Provide field technical support to customers, including troubleshooting, issue resolution, product guidance, and on‑site support.
  • Attend sales calls and customer meetings to provide a technical perspective and support solution development.
  • Partner with sales representatives to identify customer needs, address technical questions, and support new business opportunities.
  • Serve as a liaison between customers and internal teams, including sales, operations, quality, product development, product management, and customer service.
  • Assist with customer training, product demonstrations, and technical education as needed.
  • Support marketing, content generation and trade show activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer visits, trials, samples, trip reports, technical issues, follow‑up actions, and sales support activities. Use data to drive discussion and activity around improvements with product management team.
  • Promote effective communication, positive collaboration, and teamwork across internal departments and customer contacts.
  • Other responsibilities as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot customer issues in field environments.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to customers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong customer service mindset with the ability to build trust and maintain positive customer relationships.
  • Ability to support sales calls by translating customer needs into practical technical solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage field visits, trials, samples, follow‑ups, and documentation.
  • Effective problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently while traveling.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel frequently, estimated at approximately 75%.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Technical Services, Sales, or related field; or equivalent technical and customer‑facing experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical support, field service, sales support, customer service, account management in a manufacturing, preferably print, packaging, or labels.
  • Experience supporting customer trials, product samples, testing, implementations, or new business onboarding preferred.
  • Experience working directly with customers in a field‑based or customer‑facing technical role preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 75% to customer sites and business locations as required.
