Siemens Energy is seeking a Technical Field Advisor (TFA) to lead field service activities on transformer projects. The role involves supervising crews, directing repairs, and coordinating with the factory to ensure warranty-compliant completion.

The TFA will oversee oil processing, testing, and installation sequences, serving as the on-site guide for assembly and commissioning at substations or power plants. Domestic and international travel up to 80% is expected.

Qualifications

• 8+ years combined field service experience in power/transformer environments.
• Bachelor’s degree, high school diploma, GED or technical/vocational training.
• High-level supervisory skills to direct crews and subcontractors.
• Operate transformer oil processor safely and accurately.
• Strong electrical wiring, transformer testing and fault-finding skills.
• Willing and able to travel domestic and international up to 80%.

Responsibilities

• Direct Siemens Energy crews and subcontractors to perform duties per laws and standards.
• Ensure projects are on time and within budget; manage scope, hours, expenses, and vendor delivery.
• Maintain effective communication with site contacts and project management, including safety reviews and changes.
• Oversee reassembly, vacuum, oil fill, and testing per factory recommendations; protect warranty.
• Provide technical support and coordinate field/factory communication until customer signs acceptance.

Snapshot of your day:

Technical Field Advisor, (TFA), is a working field serviceconsultant responsible for maintaining quality standards of Siemens Energyfield service work, self-performing warranty repairs, environment, safety, andthe overall performance of crew / contractors on field projects. The TFA is theprimary on site guide in assembly, service, and transformer repair and otherwork at an electrical substation or power plant. The advisor is responsible forthe successful execution of projects, both technically and administratively.The TFA is encouraged to take action for the well-being of the onsitepersonnel, environment, project, equipment, customer and/or the organization.This position will be based out of New York OR New Jersey.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• DirectSiemens Energy crews, vendors/sub-contractors assigned to projects toperform duties in accordance with local, customer, industry and corporatelaws, regulations and/or standards

• Ensureprojects are timely, within budget performance of projects. Responsiblefor acquiring budget parameters of assigned projects, including scope ofwork, hours/days budgeted, expenses, and anticipated vendor/subcontractordelivery requirements, coordination of heavy equipment, tankers, testequipment, ensuring vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials are in safe,operating order and performing maintenance service, inventory, andcorrective repairs with their crew

• Maintaineffective communication with site contact for coordination and projectmanagement, including daily updates, written and/or verbal, with NRM,including project changes, safety reviews, safety incidents, work scopechanges, etc.

• TheTFA ensures the reassembly, vacuum, oil fill, & testing is completedper the factory’s recommendations and deviations were not taken that couldjeopardize the warranty

• TheTFA provides technical support and accurate installation sequence ofaccessories, communication between the field and factory for progress andissues. On behalf of the factory the TFA retains ownership andresponsibility of the equipment until customer has signed thedocumentation accepting the final product

What You Bring

• Mustpossess 8+ years of combined field service technical assembly, maintenanceand repair of power and distribution transformers/transformer accessoriesin the utility/energy electrical industry. Expertise in Distribution,Power, and Transmission electrical substation equipment across Low,Medium, and High Voltage ranges preferred.

• Bachelor’sdegree, High School diploma, GED or technical vocational or apprenticeshiptraining, combined with prior transformer field service or relatedexperience.

• Highlevel field supervisory skills to direct crew members and subcontractorsas assigned.

• Performand direct personnel in operating transformer oil processor safely andaccurately.

• Musthave strong commercial and industrial electrical wiring and strongtransformer electrical testing and fixing skills.

• Willingand able to travel domestic and international up to 80%.
