Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a motivated professional to serve as a Technical Writer/Editor (level 2) to join our diverse team of professionals located in Rancho Bernardo, CA. The Technical Writer/Editor will derive information from released technical source and/or may assist in the development of them with engineers and SMEs. Using the source materials, the writer is expected to interpret, formulate, affect data and will write, re-write and/or edit technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Will identify and resolve moderate scope and complexity discrepancies within engineering drawings and blue prints that may impact data. Coordinate findings with team members and may refer findings to established precedents and policies to include consulting the engineering group and SMEs. Will assist in the review of products with the customer and can advise its proper use.

Basic Qualifications

• 2 Years of experience with a Bachelors degree; 0 Years with a Masters. An additional 4 years of experience can be considered in lieu of a degree
• Experienced in negotiating and integrating different viewpoints, relay, and receive information and collaborate in a team environment.
• Have strong writing, and editing skills, and experience in manipulating grammar
• Experienced in querying authors for clarity and compliance purposes and must be skilled in Microsoft Word, MS excel, and PowerPoint
• Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance (must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active US Government Top Secret security clearance
• Experienced as a military aircraft maintainer
• Experienced in aviation maintenance technical publication development and sustainment using applicable software (e.g. Arbortext Editor)
• History of collaboration in small teams with different organizations
• Proficient in the interpretation of engineering data such as parts list, application list, notes list and print reading
• Experienced with configuration management
• Experienced in creating multi-configuration, multi-effectivity indentured parts lists from engineering data
• Ability to identify and possibly work around limited engineering data

Primary Level Salary Range

Primary Level Salary Range: $69,000.00 - $103,400.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
