Technical Director, Environmental Engineer – PFAS Remediation SME (Director Level)

Overview

ERM is seeking a Technical Director to join our Site Investigation and Remediation (SIR) technical team. You will provide technical strategy and project support on PFAS site investigation and remediation for clients nationally and internationally, with flexible US and Canadian locations.

Responsibilities
  1. Serve as a PFAS Subject Matter Expert (SME) on various projects, including site investigation, remediation, product stewardship, and compliance.
  2. Collaborate with North American leadership to develop a global PFAS market strategy.
  3. Manage and provide technical expertise on complex site investigation and remediation projects across industries such as chemical, manufacturing, and oil & gas.
  4. Design and oversee installation of remedial solutions for contaminated media, utilizing innovative and traditional technologies.
  5. Assist clients with contaminated site management strategies.
  6. Evaluate remedial technologies for site-specific applicability.
  7. Perform remediation design tasks, including data evaluation, calculations, cost estimation, and report preparation.
  8. Delegate project tasks and mentor junior staff.
  9. Prepare proposals and contribute to business development efforts.
  10. Build collaborative relationships within ERM.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, or geology/hydrogeology.
  2. Minimum 8 years consulting experience; 15+ preferred, with industrial clients on complex remediation projects.
  3. Expertise in PFAS topics, including publications or conference presentations.
  4. Leadership experience in remediation project design.
  5. Proven ability to prepare detailed technical reports.
  6. Experience with regulatory interactions.
  7. Excellent communication and strategic skills.
  8. Up-to-date HAZWOPER 40-hour and OSHA 30-hour safety training.
Compensation & Benefits

Annual base salary ranges from $147,670 to $198,032 USD, based on experience and other factors. Discretionary performance bonuses, comprehensive benefits including health insurance, 401(k)/RRSP, paid leave, and more are offered.
