We are looking for a Technical Director - EHR Services to join ourProvider Technology Services leadership team. This individual will successfully manage multiple client engagements and ensure clients derive value from their ongoing partnership with Optum Advisory and their EHR investment. This individual will oversee Optum analysts and consultants and serve as a subject matter expert for Epic infrastructure and integration domains in support of business development and delivery with existing and new clients. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of achieving results, building relationships, and a solid customer focus.

At Optum, Directors are responsible for leading business development efforts, solutioning Optum’s offerings to meet a prospect’s requirements, and ongoing management of VP- and C-suite client relationships with health system executives; as such, this individual will have an annual sales target as well as an annual target for overall managed revenue and/or utilization.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with consulting and marketing leadership to articulate and represent the value proposition of the practice’s technical and integration services in sales collateral
  • Assist senior leadership in setting and driving the vision and strategy for the COE’s technical capabilities
  • Promote EHR Services internally by developing relationships with client-facing teams to identify and deepen relationships with complex clients
  • Promote EHR Services externally by partnering with content, product, and service teams to identify thought leadership needs and develop strategies for tech team presence at industry events
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for delivery teams; hold workstream engagement leaders accountable for performance and coordinate support on complex and challenging tasks
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities, policies, or system standards for the overall Epic infrastructure and all Epic environments
  • Industry expert in one or more areas and use engagements to advance own knowledge
  • Determine staffing requirements, perform capacity planning for resources and supervise the work of direct reports to ensure that team is functioning effectively and efficiently
  • Hire, train and develop analysts and consultants in all functional areas within scope of management
  • Ensure all team members successfully complete all required job training, including certifications, and keep required certifications up to date
  • Provide technical consultation including configuration, system requirements, disaster recovery/high availability, end user devices, and performance monitoring
  • Communicate and present effectively to various audiences, utilizing solid listening, written, and verbal communication skills

Required Qualifications:

  • Epic certification/proficiencyin a technical area such as ODBA/ECSA/Cogito Administrator/Bridges or past managerial experience leading a team with this subject matter expertise
  • 10 years of combined experience in Healthcare and Information Technology (IT),with flexibility in the distribution—e.g., 4 years in healthcare and 6 years in IT, or vice versa.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Epic configuration
  • 4+ years of experience in resource management and/or large-scale project management
  • Proven experience in formal direct leadership, including managing teams, setting performance expectations, conducting evaluations, and driving accountability to achieve organizational goals.
  • Consulting experience
  • Proven exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Proven clearly demonstrate problem-solving capacity and the ability to be timely and responsive
  • Demonstrated ability to coach others to perform and achieve results
  • Willing or ability to travel up to 25% domestically

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of commercial experience owning or leading sales processes and targets
  • Experience as a successful influencer who can interact effectively with diverse groups of stakeholders
  • Epic infrastructure domain knowledge such as Cache’/IRIS, Microsoft SQL/Oracle, storage platforms, etc
  • Highly proficient in Power Point, Excel, and IT ticketing systems
  • Proven negotiator

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $132,200 to $226,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
