Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Technical Manager, Dams & Levees Engineer to lead our Dams and Levees team in either Baltimore, MD or the Chamblee (Atlanta), GA area. The ideal candidate will design, construct, and maintain dams and hydraulic structures while guiding a group of engineers and staff.

The role requires a PE license and 12+ years of dam engineering experience, with proficiency in AutoCAD, HEC-RAS and GIS.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in dam engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, and GIS.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and analysis of dam structures (earthfill, rockfill, concrete gravity, arch).
  • Oversee construction and maintenance, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct site investigations and feasibility assessments for dam projects.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports, designs and specifications.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets and resources.
  • Collaborate with geologists, hydrologists and environmental scientists.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and staff.
  • Ensure environmental and safety regulation adherence.
  • Perform risk assessments and mitigation for dam issues.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices.

WSP is looking for a Senior Technical Manager, Dams & Levees Engineer to lead our Dams and Levees team that can sit in our Chamblee(Atlanta), GA or Baltimore, MD WSP office. The ideal candidate will bring experience in designing, constructing, and maintaining dams and related hydraulic structures. This role is pivotal to our growing dams and levees business. Your Impact
  • Lead the design and analysis of dam structures, including earthfill, rockfill, concrete gravity, and arch dams.
  • Oversee the construction and maintenance of dams, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct site investigations and assessments to determine the feasibility and safety of dam projects.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports, designs, and technical specifications.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geologists, hydrologists, and environmental scientists.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and staff.
  • Ensure adherence to environmental and safety regulations throughout all project phases.
  • Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for potential dam failures or issues.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Attend industry events, conferences, and seminars to promote WSP’s and your profile.
