Technical Designer - Women's Apparel

Artful Home is looking for a fully onsite part-time or full-time team player, who appreciates what we do, to join our team in Los Angeles, CA. The successful candidate will be responsible for partnering with and supporting Design, Product Development and Production teams with the technical design of garments. This position offers a flexible start time between 7:00am - 9:00am Monday - Friday.

Responsibilities include:

Tech Packs: Partner with Design and Product Development to create detailed tech packs that include garment measurements, construction details, fitting notes, trim callouts, Adobe Illustrator flat sketches, and final graded specs. Maintain detailed revision notes or changes that occur throughout the development process. Maintain accurate updated information including titles, measurements, sketches and ensure the final hand off to Production is accurate.

Fittings: Schedule and lead fit sessions, guide necessary revisions to ensure garments meet fit and construction standards while executing design intent. Manage fit development process from start to finish, provide detailed feedback and adjustments to ensure proper fit, and keep styles on track for bulk production timeline. Own daily communication with teams cross-functionally on all fit sample status and ensure fit deadlines are met. Fit on live model and dress form as needed.

Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain quality standards for all styles. Collaborate with production team to review and approve PP samples. Problem solve production issues related to fit and construction. Ensure that production garments meet quality requirements and that all specs, fit blocks, and comments are executed.

Collaboration: Work closely with design, product development, and production team members to deliver results at each stage in the garment lifecycle.

Organization: Keep all technical design files and folders organized seasonally. Update with name changes, style number changes, etc. as they occur. Perform seasonal clean-up to organize and maintain a library for dropped styles.

Garment Specifications: Ensure consistent measurements and grading across all sizes. Establish fit standards and continuously analyze for modifications needed. Review return reports and provide suggestions to improve return rate. Develop and maintain fit standards utilizing block library. Work with patternmakers to expand block library for maximum utilization.

Return Rate: Recognize and correct issues associated with high returning products to identify the source of problems/returns.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Five (5) plus years of Tech Design experience is required.
  • Experience in product development, production, or design is helpful.
  • Strong time management and attention to detail is required.
  • Ability to work proficiently in Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be solution oriented and a collaborative team player.
