Job summary

CHIOCO is seeking a Technical Designer / Project Architect with eight or more years of experience for lead roles in Austin. The successful candidate will develop schematic concepts, coordinate schedules and consultants, and oversee construction documents from start to finish.

The position requires strong organization, BIM coordination, and mentoring responsibilities. In-office studio work is expected with a focus on building envelope detailing and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Eight or more years of architecture experience required.
• Strong capability in developing design concepts and leading teams.
• Experience with building envelope detailing, QA/QC, and BIM coordination.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp and Enscape.

Responsibilities

• Develop and pitch schematic designs and manage design concepts.
• Coordinate schedules, consultants, and client relationships.
• Produce detailed construction drawings and oversee construction.
• Mentor junior staff on drawing standards and detailing.

We Are Seeking

a full-time Technical Designer / Project Architect that has eight or more years of experience. You should possess a high level of organization, a strong capacity for both technical expertise and design acumen, and a willingness to lead and learn alongside our incredible team.

Please note that we are an in-office design studio. No remote or hybrid positions are currently available.

Qualified candidates must have demonstrable experience with building envelope detailing, quality control review, and BIM modeling coordination.

Candidates are responsible for developing design concepts, coordinating schedule and consultants, fostering ongoing client relationships, and overseeing the production and execution of construction drawings. You are expected to manage projects from beginning to end: developing and pitching schematic designs, assisting clients directly, producing a highly technical and detailed set of construction documents, directing a team of consultants, and providing oversight throughout construction.

Ideal Candidates Possess

• a strong technical background and an enjoyment of building science
• the ability to collaborate on projects to help round out a set, solve complex problems and look for gaps without needing a lot of direction
• a willingness to mentor other employees on drawing standards and detailing
• Employees will have an allotted amount of hours per week to be a floater for projects to help with technical aspects along with having their own assigned projects.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Professional architecture degree
• Highly organized, multi-tasked oriented, excellent communication skills
• Proficiency in: Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup, Enscape
• Demonstrable competency at all phases of design, production, and construction
• Knowledge of construction standards, methods and materials, building codes and zoning / LDC requirements
