Job summary

rag & bone, Inc. is seeking a Technical Designer, Men’s, at a mid-level to lead technical design for woven shirts, pants, and related garments.

You will partner with Design and Product Development to translate concepts into technical sketches and complete tech packs from development through production. You will work closely with in-house patternmakers, the sample room, and overseas factories to ensure styles meet specs, fit, and QA standards through production, while updating pattern priorities

Qualifications

  • Prior menswear experience is a must.
  • Knowledge of tailored garments and technical outerwear a plus.
  • Strong Cross Functional Communication Skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to manage & delegate to team members when needed.
  • Ability to work and resolve issues independently.
  • Deep knowledge of patternmaking & garment construction a must.
  • Solid understanding of industry standards regarding fit and grading.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Excel (used for tech pack creation).
  • Ability to independently create technical sketches from hand drawn sketches.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Design and Product Development to create technical sketches and Tech packs from development through production.
  • Create Technical sketches in Illustrator, based on design direction.
  • Coordinate with inhouse patternmakers, sample room, and overseas factories from development through production.
  • Update Pattern Priority chart and communicate expected ready dates with patternmakers.
  • Work with design team to create mockups, trials, and design details, and track progress within house sample room.
  • Initiate and maintain Technical Packages for all styles produced domestically and overseas.
  • Inform Design about muslin and proto completion prior to fittings and review notes with patternmaker and designer.
  • Schedule Production fittings and proactively track overseas packages; liaise with QC partners.
  • Prepare garments and paperwork for fitting and evaluate against measurements and materials.
  • Take fit notes, update tech packs, and pass to patternmakers/OS factories timely.
  • Approve protos and pre-production garments per Time & Action Calendar.
  • Collaborate with Patternmakers, Production, and factories to resolve construction issues.
  • Assist in Runway Shows and Showroom preparation.

Job Summary
Responsibilities
  • Experience with Wovens structed shirts, pants, bottoms, etc.
  • Partner with Design and Product Development to create technical sketches and Tech packs from development through production
  • Create Technical sketches in illustrator, based on design direction
  • Work closely with inhouse patternmakers, sample room, & overseas factories on each style from development through production
  • Update Pattern Priority chart regularly – assign priority in conjunction with Product Development Team, and communicate expected ready dates with patternmakers at the time of comments’ pass-off
  • Work with design team to create mockups, trials, and design details, and track progress within house sample room
  • Initiate and maintain Technical Packages for all styles produced domestically and overseas which includes, updating sketches, details, and comments from development through to production
  • Inform Design about muslin and proto completion prior to fittings. Review muslins on the mannequin together with Patternmaker and Designer; take notes and follow-up on all required updates to be executed in the proto
  • Schedule & organize Production fittings. Prepare list of garments to fit and timely updates on fit status. Proactively track overseas packages and estimate fit dates based on expected package arrival. Follow-up with domestic QC partners on anticipated PPs and TOPs.
  • Prepare garments and paperwork for fitting: evaluate it against previously made comments, check measurements and identify materials (actual vs. substitute). Be familiar with history of the garment and be able to relay it to all CF teams at the start of each fit
  • Take concise fit notes, incorporate them into tech packs, and pass them off to patternmakers/OS factories in a timely manner
  • Approve protos and pre-production garment (all stages) in timely manner according to Time & Action Calendar and Production Plan
  • Work with Patternmakers, Production department and factories on identifying and resolving construction and workmanship issues
  • Assist in preparation for the Runway Shows and Showroom openings
  • Record and follow-up on revisions prior and post Showroom openings, record comments in Line review chart and timely communicate updates to Patternmakers/overseas factories
  • Follow-up on all fit, construction and workmanship issues and work with CF teams to bring them to resolution
