Job summary

Gensler is seeking a Technical Designer to assist in the design process, produce technical documentation, and coordinate with engineering consultant teams in Baltimore. You will communicate project progress and ensure successful project delivery, with a focus on construction documentation and administration for Critical Facilities projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
• 6–10 years in commercial architecture/design, Data Center experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques is preferred.
• Experience in construction document preparation and field observation is preferred.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp and other 3D modeling software.
• Experience with laboratories, data centers, command centers, high-tech facilities, and/or government spaces.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver functional and beautiful spaces within the Critical Facilities Practice Area.
• Lead project team coordination for finished plans, specifications, and material selections; ensure design intent is incorporated into the construction documentation.
• Lead Coordination of the design with the consultant teams.
• Produce accurate technical and contract documentation for construction.
• Participate in construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, address technical issues, and maintain quality control during construction.
• Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives.
