Job summary

Verto People, Ltd. is seeking a Technical Designer / Job Captain in New York, NY to lead interior design delivery and prepare construction documents. You will collaborate across teams to refine concepts into buildable solutions and perform field surveys for code compliance.

The role requires 5–8 years in related projects, strong detailing and proficiency in Revit, Enscape and Adobe Creative Suite. Office 365 tools and collaboration with consultants are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Interior Design or Architecture.
• 5–8 years of interior design/architectural project experience.
• Experience with workplace, commercial interiors and tenant improvements.
• Knowledge of all phases of project delivery including construction administration.
• Strong detailing, materials, specs and construction documentation for interiors.
• Knowledge of building and fire codes for interior environments.
• Advanced Revit, Enscape and Adobe Creative Suite skills.
• Office 365, Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.

Responsibilities

The Technical Designer / Job Captain Role:

• Participate across all phases of interior design and architectural project delivery.
• Develop and coordinate technical documentation, including construction documents.
• Collaborate with project designers to refine design concepts into buildable solutions.
• Carry out field surveys, review existing interior spaces and support code-compliance evaluation.
• Assist with material, finish, fixture, equipment, hardware and component research and specification.
• Develop reflected ceiling plans, lighting plans and coordinated technical documentation.
• Incorporate audio/video, acoustics, power, data and other technical requirements into design packages.
• Support agency approvals, construction administration, jobsite visits and coordination with consultants, contractors and fabricators.

Technical Designer / Job Captain Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Interior Design, Architecture or a related discipline.
• 5-8 years of experience on interior design and/or architectural projects.
• Experience with workplace, commercial interiors and tenant improvement projects.
• Knowledge of all phases of interior design or architectural project delivery, including construction administration.
• Strong understanding of detailing, materials, specifications and construction documentation for commercial interiors.
• Knowledge of state and local building and fire codes relating to interior environments, including accessibility.
• Advanced Autodesk Revit, Enscape and Adobe Creative Suite skills.
• Office 365, Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.

Desirable Experience:

• Architectural licensure.
• WELL and/or LEED Accreditation.
• Sustainable design experience, ideally with hands‑on LEED and/or WELL project involvement.
• Experience working in a Citrix environment.
• Experience with Mural collaboration platform.
• Hand sketching and conceptual drawing or modeling skills.
