Job summary

Kati Curtis Design is seeking a Technical Design Lead in New York to own the development, coordination, and execution of technical design documentation across luxury residential projects. This leadership role partners with Principal Kati Curtis to translate ambitious design concepts into buildable, beautifully executed homes.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years luxury residential interior design or interior architecture experience.
  • Advanced Revit proficiency.
  • Experience producing full construction documentation sets.
  • Deep understanding of residential construction and interior detailing.
  • Experience with custom millwork, cabinetry, kitchens, and bathrooms.
  • Strong specification and scheduling experience.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of technical documentation from concept through installation.
  • Review drawing packages for completeness, constructability, and coordination.
  • Develop furniture plans, FF&E schedules, finishes, and interior detailing drawings.
  • Coordinate interior architecture, consultants, fabricators, and contractors.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first year:

  • Own technical documentation across multiple luxury residential projects
  • Develop complete kitchen, bath, millwork, and custom furniture packages
  • Establish and improve drawing standards
  • Resolve technical issues before they reach clients or contractors
  • Become the firm's go-to expert for construction documentation and detailing
  • Reduce production bottlenecks and improve project delivery
Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
  • Lead the development of technical documentation from concept through installation
  • Review drawing packages for completeness, constructability, and coordination
  • Identify conflicts, omissions, and technical risks before issuance
  • Establish and maintain documentation standards across projects
Construction Documentation
  • Develop and maintain Revit models throughout all project phases
  • Produce complete construction document sets
  • Create detailed interior elevations and design drawings
  • Develop millwork, cabinetry, architectural detailing, and custom furniture drawings
  • Coordinate interior architecture, consultants, fabricators, and contractors
Interior Design Production
  • Develop furniture plans and room layouts
  • Create and maintain FF&E schedules
  • Produce finish, plumbing, hardware, and lighting documentation
  • Create tile layouts, finish plans, and installation drawings
  • Prepare specifications and fabrication packages
Project Coordination
  • Track design decisions and revisions
  • Maintain project documentation
  • Coordinate technical information with vendors and fabricators
  • Support project teams through all phases of design and construction
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of luxury residential interior design or interior architecture experience
  • Advanced Revit proficiency
  • Experience producing full construction documentation sets
  • Deep understanding of residential construction and interior detailing
  • Experience with custom millwork, cabinetry, kitchens, and bathrooms
  • Strong specification and scheduling experience
  • Exceptional organizational skills
