Job summary

ABS Bureau is seeking a proactive Project Manager to support technical design and software development efforts. You will collaborate with Project Managers to steer teams toward delivering high-quality products on schedule, while enforcing SDLC processes and governance across projects.

A strong track record in guiding multiple milestones and mentoring Technical Leads is essential. You will also participate in effort estimation, risk assessment, and communications planning, ensuring timely

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree in a technical field or equivalent.
• 2–4 years managing onshore/offshore development teams.
• 2–4 years delivering commercial applications; familiar with release engineering, build and multi-releases.
• 3–5 years of experience as an execution project manager building project plans and artifacts for complex software development.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance in technical design and code development projects.
• Direct project teams with Project Managers to deliver high-quality products within committed timeframes.
• Oversee adherence to SDLC processes for software products and projects.
• Monitor project progress and construct risk assessments and mitigation plans.
• Mentor Technical Leads in requirements analysis, features scoping and backlog scheduling.
• Estimate efforts, resources, risks and constraints; define code drop schedules and align code drop dependencies.

Job description

What You Will Do:

• Provide assistance in technical design and code development projects.
• Work daily with Project Managers to direct project teams in the delivery of high-quality products within committed timeframes.
• Responsible for overseeing adherence by all Technical Team members to defined SDLC processes for software products and/or projects.
• Works daily with Project Managers to continuously monitor the overall progress of projects and constructing a risk assessment and mitigation plan as delivery schedules encounter unplanned issues. Works with the Project Manager to construct management communications as needed.
• Assist in mentoring and guiding Technical Leads in accurate requirements analysis, features scoping and backlog scheduling for multiple intermediate milestones until the final delivery.
• Work with Project Managers and Technical Leads to accurately estimate efforts, resource requirements, risks and constraints. Play a major role in defining code drop schedules and coordinating the alignment of code drop dependencies.

What You Will Need:

Education & Experience

• BS/BA degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2 ‒ 4 years of experience managing onshore/offshore development teams.
• 2 ‒ 4 years of experience delivering commercial applications (as opposed to internal facing projects); Should be conversant with release engineering, build and multi-releases.
• 3 ‒ 5 years of experience in application development as an execution project manager; Proven experience building project plans and artifacts used to manage complex software development activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Skills and knowledge acquired through Development, Technical Lead, or Project Management are required in each of the following areas: Project Management, Change Management, Release Management, Configuration Management, Systems Integration, Systems Development Life Cycle Methodologies, Quality Assurance and Testing, Requirements Gathering, and Systems Analysis and Design.
• Strong history and track record of completing quality projects on time, as well as a proven track record in coaching and mentoring others to success.
• Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (written & verbal).
• Excellent presentation skills and strong negotiation skills.
• Ability to anticipate and build contingency plans.
• Expert problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle stressful situations with perseverance and professionalism.

It Would Be Nice If You Had

• Knowledge of employment law related to recruiting and staffing.
• Exposure to recruiting metrics including Time to Fill, Time to Hire, and Days Open.
• Experience with government hiring requirements including ITAR and security clearances.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to a Manager, Director or Executive level position.
