Position Summary
Bentley Systems – Mid West / East Coast, US (Home-Based/Hybrid/Office-Based). Due to the travel requirements of this role, candidates must live within reasonable traveling distance of an airport.
The Consultant II aligns with business and IT stakeholders to translate business issues and requirements into best‑practice processes, blueprints, and functional specifications. This role works on complex challenges utilizing and developing technical skills, contributing to both client and internal projects and working collaboratively and independently. The Consultant II also assists more junior members of the team.
During software development and implementation, the Consultant II secures quality of deliverables and effectiveness of communication between the implementation teams (configuration, interfacing, data mapping/conversion, etc.). Along with project responsibilities, this role is involved in Advisory Services projects, where they assess and advise clients on their maturity in Asset Management and/or Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership throughout the lifecycle of a project, including development, testing, deployment of technical solutions and ongoing support.
- Configure and customize client solutions, applying in-depth knowledge of workflows, system configuration, and customizations to develop asset‑management technical solutions for customers.
- Concurrently deliver multiple projects that support the complex and demanding requirements of project delivery.
- Identify and track issues related to project delivery.
- Facilitate/document system design workshops, process reengineering workshops, and create project and system documentation including process maps, system requirements, data standards, and training materials.
- Act as an advocate for the end‑user within the project delivery team.
- Assess progress against project delivery plans and report risks to the project team.
- Coordinate data modelling and data collection activities.
- Seek continuous improvements in implementation of processes and procedures, delivering independently or with the team.
- Oversee development, testing, and deployment of technical solutions.
- Be fully responsible for smaller work packages or larger scopes of work, designing solutions based on experience.
- Provide client support and training.
- Play an active role in preparing responses to RFIs and RFPs.
- Control scope of project design and deliver high‑quality, value‑added results for both client and internal projects.
- Mentor and guide junior members of the team.
- Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer.
- This role requires up to 50% travel.
Qualifications
- Qualifications
- Graduate education in a relevant degree or highly applicable work history.
- Desirable: Appropriate software accreditation in chosen discipline (e.g., IBM Maximo Certification, Agile DSDM Certification).
- Knowledge
- 4 to 7 years of experience.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working within asset‑intensive industries or facility management environments.
- Demonstrable understanding and knowledge of databases (DB2, Oracle, MSSQL) and SQL writing skills.
- Understanding of data replication technologies and basic principles of software delivery techniques.
- Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) expertise.
- Experience with integration of business solutions with ERP solutions.
- Experience with asset‑management systems (e.g., IBM Maximo, AssetWise, SAP, Infor, Oracle, Salesforce) or related applications.
- Experience with Ez Max Mobile.
- Experience providing support to customers or end users.
- Good understanding of IT networking and communications.
- Experience implementing and integrating third‑party applications.
- Excellent logical analysis, problem‑solving, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Excellent communicator with high standards of written, verbal, and numerical reasoning skills.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and general database applications.
- Highly developed analytical and deductive skills to identify and understand client needs.
- Desirable
- Database experience (SQL Server, Oracle, and/or DB2).
- Knowledge of programming languages (Java, Python, SQL).
- Knowledge of version control software such as SVN.
- IBM WebSphere and/or BEA WebLogic experience.
- Windows and Linux/Solaris experience.
- Knowledge of IBM Maximo Assistant and supporting tools.
