Job summary

Plasma-Therm LLC in Saint Petersburg, FL seeks a Technical Buyer to procure materials, components and services for manufacturing and customer service. Emphasis on build-to-print parts and collaboration with Engineering on specifications.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of purchasing experience, strong MRP/Excel skills, and can travel up to 20% domestically and internationally to ensure on-time delivery and favorable pricing.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or other related discipline preferred.
• Experience with Machine to Print and Fabricated Components Required.
• Minimum five (5) years of closely related purchasing experience.
• Proficient in MRP systems and computer-based programs such as Excel, Word, Project, etc.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, or other technical material.
• Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and customers.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally as required.
• Ability to effectively negotiate terms of sale to meet schedule and pricing objectives.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and issues POs on complex or specialized parts to support production schedules and departmental requirements.
• Prepares RFQs and inputs information into MRP system for price/quantity breaks and secondary sourcing.
• Places orders, selects sources, and evaluates quotations, delivery schedules, and vendor quality.
• Seeks out and qualifies new vendors to support the supply chain and mitigate single source risks.
• Contacts vendors regarding adjustments, incorrect material, or delivery problems; coordinates corrective actions.
• Maintains knowledge of product lines and applications; develops vendor relations.
• Assists in evaluating vendor reliability by reporting vendor quality, dependability, and price performance.
• Mentors less experienced buyers.
• Understands KPIs reported by Supply Chain and performs related duties.
• Adheres to Plasma-Therm safety, health, quality and environmental processes.
