About Loggerhead Risk Management LLC

Loggerhead is a property and casualty insurer that specializes in providing coverage that meets the unique needs of Florida homeowners. We’re a team of insurance professionals with customer service as our core value, and we understand the importance of providing attentive service to our policyholders. Loggerhead is powered by modern technology, guided by people who share a commitment to trust, empathy, always doing what’s right, flexibility, and teamwork.

Role Overview

Loggerhead’s IT team is seeking a Technical Business Analyst to bridge business needs, customer experience, and technical delivery. This role partners with business stakeholders, product owners, UX/UI designers, solution engineers, developers, quality assurance teams, and external vendors to define effective technology solutions. The ideal candidate can lead to functional requirements analysis across user interfaces, workflows, business rules, data, systems, and integrations while also interpreting API specifications and documenting the requirements used to design new or updated APIs.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role requires strong functional analysis, technical aptitude, user-centered thinking, precise documentation, sound judgment, and clear communication. The Technical Business Analyst must be comfortable moving between customer and business needs, UI/UX workflows, and detailed system and integration requirements while identifying gaps, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business and Functional Analysis: Elicit, analyze, validate, and document business, functional, nonfunctional, data, UI/UX, system, and integration requirements.
  • Translate business goals, customer needs, workflows, and data needs into clear requirements, user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria, process maps, data maps, and other delivery artifacts.
  • Facilitate discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, workflow reviews, and solution-design discussions to understand current-state challenges and define future-state experiences.
  • Document business rules, system behavior, screen requirements, field definitions, validations, user interactions, permissions, notifications, and exception scenarios.
  • Ensure requirements are complete, approved, traceable, testable, and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify requirement gaps, assumptions, dependencies, risks, and conflicting stakeholder needs, and drive timely resolution.
  • UI/UX and Customer Experience: Partner with business stakeholders, designers, developers, and QA teams to define intuitive, accessible, and consistent user experiences.
  • Create or contribute to user flows, journey maps, wireframes, screen annotations, prototypes, and functional specifications for customer-facing and internal applications.
  • Evaluate proposed designs against business objectives, user needs, functional requirements, usability principles, accessibility expectations, and technical constraints.
  • Define interface behavior for navigation, data entry, validation, messaging, errors, responsive layouts, and alternate user paths.
  • Participate in design reviews and usability feedback sessions, document decisions, and ensure approved experiences are accurately translated into development requirements.
  • API and Integration Analysis: Review and interpret REST API specifications, including endpoints, HTTP methods, request and response payloads, authentication, headers, status codes, validation rules, error handling, and data definitions.
  • Document the business and technical requirements used by solution engineers and developers to design new or updated APIs.
  • Create source-to-target data mappings, field-level definitions, transformation rules, required and optional field requirements, business rules, and integration acceptance criteria.
  • Partner with developers and solution engineers to define API contracts and confirm that proposed specifications support the intended business process, user experience, and system behavior.
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and dependencies in existing API documentation and coordinate decisions with business stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors.
  • Use Swagger/OpenAPI documentation and Postman to evaluate integrations, build requests, inspect payloads and responses, and validate expected API behavior.
  • Product and Delivery Support: Develop strong product, platform, customer journey, and system knowledge to support solution design and continuous improvement.
  • Support Agile ceremonies, backlog refinement, release planning, and the creation of epics, features, user stories, tasks, and acceptance criteria.
  • Partner with product, design, development, and quality assurance teams to clarify requirements and support delivery throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Testing and Validation: Define functional, usability, integration, negative, regression, and end-to-end test scenarios based on documented requirements.
  • Support user acceptance testing by validating workflows, screen behavior, business rules, data, permissions, messaging, usability, and expected outcomes.
  • Support API testing by validating authentication, headers, payloads, responses, status codes, error conditions, data transformations, and downstream outcomes.
  • Document defects and requirement variances, support root-cause analysis, and confirm that delivered solutions meet approved functional, user experience, and technical requirements.
  • Documentation, Training, and Collaboration: Create and maintain business requirements documents, functional specifications, process flows, workflow diagrams, data dictionaries, integration documentation, decision logs, and user guidance.
  • Facilitate cross-functional discussions, communicate technical concepts clearly to business audiences, and ensure business and user context is accurately conveyed to technical teams.
  • Create and deliver training materials when needed to support successful adoption of new systems, integrations, and processes.
  • Use tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, Asana, Visio, Power BI, Microsoft 365, Postman, and Swagger/OpenAPI to manage requirements, collaboration, analysis, and delivery.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support team and business priorities.
Required Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of JSON, RESTful services, HTTP methods, status codes, API authentication methods, and integration patterns.
  • Hands-on experience using Postman and Swagger/OpenAPI documentation to understand, validate, and document API behavior.
  • Proven ability to analyze and communicate complex business processes, customer journeys, system behavior, and technical requirements.
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery, product development, testing practices, and the software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to facilitate cross-functional discussions, resolve ambiguities, and drive alignment among business stakeholders, vendors, designers, and technical teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to business audiences and preserve business and user context for technical teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and requirements.
  • Experience working with cloud-based applications, integrations, and delivery teams.
