Southern California Edison is seeking a Technical Audits Advisor to lead complex audit engagements, assess enterprise risks, internal controls, and regulatory compliance. The role emphasizes data analytics using SAP, Excel, Power BI, SQL, Python, and Alteryx to support audit planning, testing, and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of related professional experience in engineering, environmental science, safety, information systems/technology, or auditing.
  • Master's degree or PE certification preferred.

Become a Technical Audits Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will serve as a key contributor on highly complex, sensitive, and specialized audit engagements that are significant to the Company. You will independently lead audits and leverage your technical expertise to assess enterprise risks, the effectiveness of internal controls, the reliability of operational information, and compliance with regulatory requirements, applicable laws, and corporate standards of conduct. Based on audit results, you will develop recommendations for senior management that strengthen controls, enhance compliance, mitigate risk, and improve operational effectiveness.

Responsibilities
  • Executes risk-based audit procedures in alignment with company policies and standards. Identifies key risks and controls within the business and operational processes under review.
  • Prepares high quality audit communications, reports and supporting documentation, and provides value- added recommendations that promote effective and efficient solutions to business risks.
  • Identifies and reports any significant changes during the audit process to ensure the completeness and accuracy of audit coverage.
  • Executes control testing and performs data analytics to support assessments.
  • Identifies and evaluates the effectiveness of controls of business operations and related information systems. Assists in identifying and assessing business risks, assess effectiveness of existing controls, recommending additional controls when necessary, and verifying accuracy of financial records and efficiency of operations. Collects and analyzes data to detect deficient controls, duplicated effort, inefficiencies, fraud or non- compliance with laws, regulations and management policies.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Five or more years of relevant professional experience in engineering, environmental science, safety, information systems/technology, or auditing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain certification within three years from hire.
  • Demonstrated experience using data analytics to support audit planning, testing, and reporting, including:
    • Extracting and analyzing data from large Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP).
    • Using advanced Microsoft Excel functions, including PivotTables, lookups, formulas, and data analysis tools.
    • Utilizing analytics and visualization tools such as Python, Power BI, SQL, Alteryx, or similar technologies.
    • Developing analytical models and automated solutions to enhance audit effectiveness and efficiency.
    • Synthesizing complex data into meaningful insights and effectively communicating conclusions and recommendations.
  • Experience evaluating compliance with utility regulatory and legislative requirements, including FERC, NERC, CPUC, and California General Rate Case (GRC) proceedings.
  • Experience working within a regulated electric, gas, or water utility environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise, including executive leadership.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Additional Information
  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

NERC/CIP
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
