Overview
The Technical Associate supports the safe, reliable, environmentally compliant, and economical generation of electricity and/or steam by assisting the station scheduler with daily, weekly, and outage schedules.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Utilize Maximo to track and manage Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) work orders, weekly schedules, outage schedules, and Maximo Change Requests (MCR).
- Support East River Work Control by reviewing emergent work orders daily to prioritize work, identify duplicates, or cancel pending work orders.
- Facilitate daily Work Order Review Meetings with all station groups to ensure correct processing of new work orders.
- Use the Maximo Dashboard to monitor and present key metrics visually.
- Develop monthly EH&S reports to track open safety work orders and progress.
- Create and manage a monthly report card to review metrics with the Vice President of Steam Operations.
- Maintain good communication skills to work professionally across departments and with outside agencies.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; able to cross-reference reports for discrepancies.
- Work effectively in cross-functional teams across various departments.
- Perform other related tasks as required.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Accounting, Math, or a related field. Full-time or internship experience counts towards the minimum one-year work experience; participation in full-time college cooperative or summer internships for at least six months also meets the requirements.
Relevant Work Experience
- Strong communication skills and professionalism in working with various departments and outside agencies.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical skills preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- Driver's License required.
Physical Demands
- Respond to system emergencies.
- Work in all weather conditions.
- Perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Carry tools and materials while climbing ladders and scaffolds, and entering confined spaces.
- Work on vehicles and equipment.
- Work in adverse conditions including noise, confined spaces, and high elevations.
- Climb ladders and stairs, work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, roofs, and in underground vaults.
- Work near high voltage and high-energy systems.
- Wear appropriate PPE including respirators.
- Work in various environments and conditions, including night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Additional Physical Demands
- Assigned a System Emergency Assignment, working non-business hours during emergencies, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
