Senior Technical Architect

Work Location: Kingston, Ontario

DLS is seeking a Senior Technical Architect for a contract role to provide technical advice, support, and guidance in the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise-scale IT infrastructure operations. This position requires a highly skilled Technical Architect with expertise in VMware 7.x/8.x infrastructure.

The successful candidate must have an active Secret security clearance and be willing to operate as an Independent Contractor.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Technical Advisory & Support:

• Provide specialized technical advice and support on IT infrastructure issues, including planning, development, integration, and maintenance.
• Collaborate with management, technical staff, program specialists, and clients to offer expert guidance on IT infrastructure operations (server, mainframe, and cloud technologies).
• Deliver technical support and planning for IT infrastructure evolution, ensuring service continuity and reliability.

Solution Analysis & Implementation:

• Analyze, design, implement, and manage existing solutions, including:
• VMware 7.x/8.x infrastructure (vCenter and ESXi).
• VMware Cloud Foundation 4.x/5.x (SDDC Manager, NSX-T, and vSAN).
• VMware vRealize/Aria Suite environment.
• Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
• Veeam backup systems.

REQUIREMENTS

• Level II Secret clearance, and have or be eligible for Controlled Goods Clearance.
• Minimum 10 years of experience as a Technical Architect, with proven expertise in designing and implementing enterprise-scale IT architectures.
• Minimum 24 months of experience (within the past 60 months) developing technical architectures, frameworks, and strategies for enterprise-scale production datacenter infrastructures (10+ hosts, 100+ servers, 300+ users).
• Minimum 24 months of experience (within the past 60 months) developing technical architectures and system integration for Microsoft server products, including Windows Server 2019 or Server 2022.
• Minimum 24 months of experience (within the past 60 months) in developing technical architectures, frameworks, strategies, and integrations for VMware Cloud Foundation, including:
• ESX version 7.X/8.X
• vCenter
• VMware NSX-T (Software Defined Network)
• vSAN (Software Defined Storage)

Minimum 24 months of experience (within the past 60 months) analyzing and evaluating alternative technology solutions for on-prem and public cloud technologies.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in VMware, cloud technologies, and server operations.
• Experience configuring and managing operating systems (Windows, Unix, Linux, Novell).
• Strong understanding of networking protocols (HTTP, FTP, Telnet, TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, SMTP).
• Familiarity with internet security protocols (SSL, S-HTTP, S-MIME, IPSec, SSH).
• Hands-on experience in backup systems, SCCM, and virtualization technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to create and manage technical documentation.
