Job summary

Heartland Business Systems, LLC. seeks a Technical Architect to develop, implement, and support network services for consulting clients, mentoring peers, and building customer-focused relationships to identify challenges and craft requirements for optimal solutions.

You will lead engineers on complex projects, collaborate with Practice Leads, and ensure timely delivery while maintaining professional standards and ongoing vendor certifications.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a technical related field.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
• At least two Professional level certifications.
• CCNP, CCP-V, VCAP-DCV, MCA.
• Experience designing and architecting network-based solutions.
• Installing and supporting Cisco or HP/Aruba network devices.
• IOS, IOS-XR, NX-OS experience and best practices.
• Routing protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP; L2/L3 design.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Practice Leads to create and maintain documents and procedures.
• Execute on large projects with Project Managers and Practice Leads, on time and on budget.
• Provide leadership and guide Engineers to ensure timely, accurate task completion.
• Lead Engineers on multi-technology projects.
• Provide daily project updates and proactive timelines, hours, resources, concerns.
• Facilitate collaboration between business units to deliver a world-class customer experience.
• Lead customer meetings with clear communication and leadership.
• Contribute to product selection, research, configuration standards, and educate sales teams.
• Operate in a team environment across regional and virtual practices, maintaining professionalism.
• Maintain current vendor/industry certifications and stay updated on new products and solutions.
• Grow professionally following the Engineering skills matrix (experience, leadership, certifications, tech expertise).
• Meet annual billable hour goals as defined by HBS.

Roles and Responsibilities / Essential Functions

• Play an active role by collaborating with Practice Leads to create and maintain documents and procedures.


• Execute, with Project Managers and Practice Leads, on large projects on time and on budget.


• Provide active leadership and articulate to the Project Management Team what is needed for success and lead the other Engineers to ensure tasks are being completed accurately and timely.


• Be the Lead Engineer on projects that have multiple different technologies.


• In collaboration with the Project Management Team Members, if applicable, provide daily updates on all projects and be proactive with communication to all parties on timelines, hours, resources, concerns, etc.


• Proactively execute collaboration between different business units to provide a world class experience for the customer.


• Demonstrate excellent communication skills and take a leadership role in Team and customer meetings.


• Contribute to product selection and research, configuration standards and best practices and educate our sales teams on these products and services so that they can sell them.


• Work in a team atmosphere between regional and virtual practices, while at all times maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor.


• Maintain current vendor/industry specific certifications and stay current on new products and solutions.


• Continue to grow personally along the guidelines of the Engineering skills matrix, improving your skill set around project experience, leadership, certifications and technical expertise.


• Meet annual billable hour goal, as defined by HBS. This number may change over time as the business evolves.

Requirements

• 5+ years in a technical related field


• Bachelor’s Degree, equivalent certifications or equivalent work experience


• At least two or more Professional level certifications


• CCNP, CCP-V, VCAP-DCV, MCA


• Experience designing and architecting network based solutions


• Installing and supporting Cisco or HP/Aruba network switching and routing products


• IOS, IOS-XR, NX-OS Experience/Best Practices


• Routing Protocols—OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, L2 / L3 Architecture and Design Multicast, QoS


• Maintain an outcome focused mindset


• Have strong prioritization skills
