Job summary

Heartland Technology Group in Wisconsin seeks a Technical Architect to design, implement, and support network services for clients. You will mentor engineers, lead multi-technology projects, and collaborate with practice leads to deliver on-time, on-budget solutions while maintaining professional client relationships.

The role emphasizes leadership, certifications, and ongoing skills development, with a focus on Cisco/Aruba network environments and industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in a technical field or related role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent certifications or experience.
  • At least two professional level certifications.
  • CCNP, CCP-V, VCAP-DCV, MCA or equivalent.
  • Experience designing and architecting network-based solutions.
  • Installing and supporting Cisco/HP-Aruba switches and routing.
  • IOS, IOS-XR, NX-OS experience and best practices.
  • Knowledge of OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, L2/L3 architecture and design, multicast, QoS.
  • Outcome-focused mindset, prioritization, teamwork, professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Practice Leads to create and maintain documents and procedures.
  • Execute large projects with Project Managers to meet time and budget goals.
  • Provide leadership and guide engineers to ensure timely, accurate task completion.
  • Serve as Lead Engineer on multi-technology projects.
  • Provide daily project updates to the PM Team and stakeholders.
  • Foster collaboration between business units to deliver world-class customer experience.
  • Lead customer meetings and communicate clearly with teams and clients.
  • Contribute to product selection, research, configuration standards, and educate sales teams.
  • Grow skills through engineering matrix, expanding project experience, leadership, certifications.

Description

The Technical Architect will develop, implement, and support network services and solutions for consulting clients while mentoring and sharing skills with others. This position will build a customer-focused relationship with client to identify business challenges and develop specifications and requirements to arrive at the best solution.

Roles and Responsibilities / Essential Functions
  • Play an active role by collaborating with Practice Leads to create and maintain documents and procedures.
  • Execute, with Project Managers and Practice Leads, on large projects on time and on budget.
  • Provide active leadership and articulate to the Project Management Team what is needed for success and lead the other Engineers to ensure tasks are being completed accurately and timely.
  • Be the Lead Engineer on projects that have multiple different technologies.
  • In collaboration with the Project Management Team Members, if applicable, provide daily updates on all projects and be proactive with communication to all parties on timelines, hours, resources, concerns, etc.
  • Proactively execute collaboration between different business units to provide a world class experience for the customer.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and take a leadership role in Team and customer meetings.
  • Contribute to product selection and research, configuration standards and best practices and educate our sales teams on these products and services so that they can sell them.
  • Work in a team atmosphere between regional and virtual practices, while at all times maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor.
  • Maintain current vendor/industry specific certifications and stay current on new products and solutions.
  • Continue to grow personally along the guidelines of the Engineering skills matrix, improving your skill set around project experience, leadership, certifications and technical expertise.
  • Meet annual billable hour goal, as defined by HBS. This number may change over time as the business evolves.
How to qualify
  • 5+ years in a technical related field
  • Bachelor’s Degree, equivalent certifications or equivalent work experience
  • At least two or more Professional level certifications
  • CCNP, CCP-V, VCAP-DCV, MCA
  • Experience designing and architecting network based solutions
  • Installing and supporting Cisco or HP/Aruba network switching and routing products
  • IOS, IOS-XR, NX-OS Experience/Best Practices
  • Routing Protocols—OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, L2 / L3 Architecture and Design Multicast, QoS
  • Maintain an outcome focused mindset
  • Have strong prioritization skills
  • Always be a team player
  • Carry a professional attitude and respectful demeanor
