Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Phoenix seeks a skilled mainframe developer to work across COBOL, JCL, DB2 and IMS environments. The role involves handling large daily data volumes, incident management via Jira, and contributing to automation initiatives using Excel VBA.

The candidate will participate in all lifecycle stages, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and support platform stability and audits. This is a full‑time on-site position in the United States.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with COBOL, JCL, DB2 and IMS.
• U+0020Experience in MQ and mainframe tools is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop software products using COBOL, JCL, DB2 and IMS.
• Participate in all phases of the development lifecycle from requirements to support.
• Lead daily meetings with counterparts and track defects to closure.
• Ensure data integrity and auditability across systems.
• Prepare reports on platform stability and issue visibility.
• Remediate customer data issues and document monitoring.
• Report and log ITSM incidents and drive resolution.

Must Have Technical/Functional Skills

• Application Language: COBOL, GoLang
• Backend: DB2 and IMS
• Compile and Run: JCL
• Tools: ISPW for code management, File-AID, CAFM, DFSORT
• File Processing: VSAM
• Scheduler: Control-M
• Basic knowledge for Mainframe Automation.
• Excel based VBA Macro Automation

• Proficient in developing software products and research using COBOL, JCL, DB2, IMS, JIRA and MQ; exploring challenging assignments with a professionally managed organization.
• Well versed in all phases of development lifecycle, from gathering requirements to analysis, development, testing, implementation, documentation and support.
• Experience in handling and driving daily meetings / calls with the counterparts.
• Proficiency in preparing Defect logs and tracking defects to closure.
• Ability to analyze, organize and manage challenging tasks that promote growth through individual and product achievement.
• Need to have good written and verbal communication skills
• Developed query script to assist team with data extraction
• Ensured successful processing of millions of records daily with adjacent systems
• Prioritized and resolved over 1500 ITSM incidents
• Prepared reports for platform stability and visibility of issues
• Provided audit and operational risk event support
• Identified and reported over 250 issues through Jira
• Remediated customer account issues due to missing or invalid data
• Created and updated documentation on relevant issues and for monitoring purpose

Salary Range- $120,000-$130,000 a year
