Job summary

Nordstrom is seeking a Technical Designer Intern to join our Technical Design team within Sourcing & Development in Seattle, reporting to the Senior Technical Designer. The ideal Intern is detail-oriented, obsessed with apparel development and committed to customer service.

Successful Interns may join Nordstrom full-time after degree completion. The 2027 summer internship runs 10 weeks (June 14–August 20, 2027) in Seattle, WA.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel Design, Apparel Manufacturing, Pattern Making or related field.
• Strong organization and time management skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management software (preferred).
• Familiarity with 3D apparel development tools (Browzwear, CLO, Optitex) (preferred).
• Familiarity with 2D pattern software (Gerber Accumark, Optitex) (preferred).
• Demonstrate core competencies: Customer Focus, Self-Development and Communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepare clear Tech Packs, including measurement worksheets and construction images, that align with Design intent and Brand DNA.
• Assist in evaluating samples to ensure product specifications, quality and construction standards are met.
• Measure samples.
• Support the Technical Design team and participate in fit sessions as needed.
• Support the team in meeting calendar milestones and due dates.
• Maintain sample organization throughout the development and production lifecycle.
• Assist in special projects as directed.

The 2027 summer internship program is 10 weeks and will take place June 14th - August 20th in Seattle, WA. Housing will be provided for individuals living 30 miles or further from the Nordstrom corporate offices. Interviews will take place in November 2026. We anticipate hiring decisions being made by January 2027.

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below has been provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different for other locations.

Pay offers are dependent on the location, as well as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

$22.75 - $37.50 Hourly
