As we continue to expand, we're looking for a Technical Accounting Specialist to join our finance team and support our complex accounting needs in a fast-paced, collaborative, and remote-first environment.

About the Role

As a Technical Accounting Specialist, you will serve as a subject matter expert on complex accounting issues relevant to the insurance industry. You will support the preparation of whitepapers, policy documentation, and technical guidance, and partner with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and statutory accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Research and interpret U.S. GAAP and statutory accounting standards (NAIC).

• Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions (e.g., reinsurance, acquisitions, investments, new products).

• Draft accounting memos, position papers, and internal guidance for review by senior leadership and auditors.

• Partner with internal teams (FP&A, Treasury, Actuarial) and external stakeholders (auditors, regulators).

• Monitor emerging accounting standards and assess their impact on the business.

• Support audit processes and regulatory filings as needed.

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in technical accounting, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry.

• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP; NAIC statutory accounting experience is a plus.

• CPA designation preferred (or in progress).

• Prior experience at a Big 4 or national public accounting firm a plus.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills-ability to clearly articulate accounting positions.

• Proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment.
