Job summary

Total System Services is seeking a Technical Accounting Manager to join our Accounting & Finance team. You will lead technical accounting research, support GAAP reporting, coordinate audits, and help drive internal controls and close processes in a global payments environment.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of technical accounting and financial reporting experience, a CPA is preferred, and a strong grasp of GAAP and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
• 5+ years of experience with technical accounting and financial reporting.
• CPA preferred.
• Thorough understanding of GAAP.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with ERP general ledger systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Performs technical accounting research (e.g. revenue recognition, business combinations, lease accounting, stock compensation, software, etc.) and documents conclusions.
• Assists in the preparation of internal and external financial reporting, ensuring GAAP compliance.
• Coordinates with external auditors and prepares required documentation for audits.
• Develops and implements internal controls to meet SOX 404 requirements.
• Keeps up-to-date with new accounting standards and assesses impact on financial statements.
• Consults with business management on accounting matters.
• Plays a key role in monthly and quarterly close processes.
• Participates in valuations for business combinations and accounting for them.
• Participates in special projects to address financial and operational issues.
• Participates in annual goodwill impairment assessments.
• Collaborates with finance and operations staff and external consultants.

What you’ll own

• Performs technical accounting research (e.g. revenue recognition, business combinations, lease accounting, stock compensation, software, etc.). Responsible for documenting accounting conclusions in accounting memos as necessary.


• Assists in the preparation of all internal and external financial reporting, ensuring compliance with GAAP


• Participates in the audit process by coordinating with external auditors and preparing required documentation


• Assists in the development and implementation of internal controls to ensure compliance with SOX 404 requirements


• Keeps up-to-date with new accounting and reporting standards and estimates the impact of new accounting standards or changes in accounting principles on the Company’s financial statements


• Consults with business management on accounting matters


• Plays a key role in the monthly and quarterly close processes


• Participates in third party valuations for business combinations and assists with accounting for business combinations


• Participates in special projects to ensure financial accounting, reporting and company-wide operational issues are properly identified and addressed


• Participates in annual goodwill impairment assessment


• Works closely with all financial and operational staff to ensure effective communication


• Liaises with the Company’s tax and finance department and external consultants


• Performs ad hoc analysis as needed
