Job summary

Amneal Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Technical Accounting Manager to lead lease accounting under ASC 842, complex contract accounting and accounting research, supporting quarterly and annual close. You will partner with Finance, Legal, IT and Tax to ensure US GAAP compliance and audit-ready documentation.

The role also drives SOX control enhancements and oversees contract reviews, requiring a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance and 7+ years of Big 4 or pharma experience.

Job description

Technical Accounting Manager will be responsible for leading key technical accounting areas, including lease accounting, complex contract accounting, accounting research, and quarterly/annual financial reporting support. This role serves as a critical liaison across Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Treasury, Tax and international finance teams, ensuring appropriate application of U.S. GAAP, timely close processes and audit‑ready documentation. The position also supports emerging accounting issues, prepares technical memos and drives consistency in accounting policies and processes across the organization.

Essential Functions

• Leads accounting for complex transactions and executes critical quarterly and annual close activities. Owns all aspects of lease accounting under ASC 842, including evaluating new and modified lease agreements, determining lease classification, maintaining the lease accounting system; leads accounting for complex arrangements, prepares recurring and non‑recurring technical accounting memos; prepares journal entries and account reconciliations for technical accounting issues; repairs accounting analyses and supports schedules for financial statement disclosures related to complex accounting matters.
• Partners cross‑functionally with Finance (India finance, FP&A, Treasury, Tax), Legal, IT and business stakeholders to identify, assess and resolve complex accounting and financial reporting matters while ensuring consistent application of U.S. GAAP. Serves as the technical accounting SME for the company’s India‑based finance organization by providing guidance on accounting conclusions, implementation of new accounting standards and resolution of technical accounting issues.
• Leads continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, scalability, and effectiveness of technical accounting processes and related internal controls. Partners with Finance, IT and business teams to design, implement and enhance SOX controls over new business processes, system implementations and other transformational initiatives. Supports SOX compliance by maintaining strong documentation, assisting with internal control design and execution, and responding to internal and external audit requests.
• Oversees the finance contract review process, coordination of agreement reviews and timely routing of contracts to appropriate accounting and business stakeholders. Evaluates agreements for accounting implications, identifies technical accounting considerations, coordinates with Legal and business partners to resolve issues and ensures accounting conclusions are appropriately documented prior to contract execution.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in Accounting/Finance – Required

Experience

• 7 years or more in Big 4 and/or corporate pharmaceutical industry experience

Specialized Knowledge

• Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting theory
• Strong understanding of US GAAP, accounting systems, internal controls, financial reporting and financial statement analysis

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary ranges from $120,000 to $145,000 per year, with a short‑term incentive opportunity (bonus or performance‑based award) within the first 12 months. Compensation is based on qualifications, experience, geographic location and other relevant factors.
