Job summary

NewPoint Real Estate Capital is seeking a Technical Accounting Director to lead the company’s financial reporting, technical accounting, internal controls, and SEC filing processes. This role ensures accuracy, completeness, and GAAP compliance for external reporting and handles complex matters in real estate finance, debt investments, derivatives, consolidation, CECL, and revenue recognition.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required.
• 10+ years of experience in technical accounting and SEC reporting.
• Public company reporting experience essential; REITs/real estate finance preferred.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC rules; SOX 404.
• Experience with ASC 810, ASC 820, ASC 326, ASC 842, derivatives, and related instruments.
• Excellent writing, communication, and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee technical accounting research and clear memoranda.
• Prepare and review SEC filings including 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, MD&A.
• Subject matter expert on U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
• Monitor new standards and lead implementation.
• Partner with cross-functional teams on new transactions.
• Support SOX 404 compliance program.
• Liaise with external auditors on technical matters.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and controls.
• Review financial statements for GAAP compliance.
• Provide technical accounting guidance and training.
• Lead special projects in financial reporting.
