Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States is seeking a Senior Technical Accountant to own technical accounting within Sage Intacct on complex transactions such as VIE consolidation, revenue recognition, leases, and business combinations. You will ensure accurate GAAP treatment across a multi-entity portfolio and partner with the Controller to reflect positions in close processes.

The role requires an active CPA, deep U.S. GAAP knowledge, and experience in renewable energy or project finance accounting.

Qualifications

CPA certification with an active license.
Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP; experience with ASC 810, 606, 842, 323, 360, 740.
Experience in renewable energy, tax equity structures, or project finance accounting preferred.
Experience with multi-entity consolidation and intercompany positions.
Excellent written communication for auditor/leadership memos.

Responsibilities

Own technical accounting in Sage Intacct for complex transactions (e.g., VIE consolidation, revenue recognition, leases, business combinations).
Evaluate accounting implications of acquisitions, financings, capitalization of costs, and partnership flips for GAAP treatment.
Manage consolidations and eliminations across 100+ entities, ensuring accurate allocations.
Partner with Controller to reflect technical positions in close processes and financial statements.
Develop accounting policies, memos, and internal controls to support a scalable environment.
Monitor FASB/GAAP updates and lead implementation efforts.
Mentor accounting staff on complex accounting matters as the portfolio grows.

Job description

Own technical accounting within Sage Intacct on complex transactions, including VIE consolidation analysis, accounting for tax equity structures, revenue recognition (PPAs and RECs), leases, asset impairment, income and property taxes, and business combinations.
Evaluate the accounting implications of new project acquisitions, financings, capitalization of costs, and partnership flip structures, and advise on GAAP treatment.
Manage the consolidation of the entity structure, ensuring accurate elimination entries and non-controlling/tax equity interest allocations across 100+ entities.
Partner with the Controller and accounting operations team to ensure technical positions are properly reflected in the close process and financial statements.
Develop and maintain accounting policies, technical memos, and internal controls documentation to support a scalable, audit-ready control environment.
Monitor and assess the impact of new and proposed accounting standards (FASB/GAAP updates) on the company and lead implementation efforts.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to accounting staff on complex accounting matters as the entity structure and portfolio grow.

Requirements

8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a foundation in public accounting, renewable energy industry, or technical accounting strongly preferred.
Active CPA license required.
Deep working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, with demonstrated experience researching and documenting complex technical accounting positions (ASC 810, 606, 842, 323, 360, 740 and related areas).
Experience with renewable energy, tax equity structures, or project finance accounting (including HLBV) is preferred but not required.
Experience working within a multi-entity or consolidated organizational structure; comfort navigating complexity across a large number of legal entities.
Strong written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical accounting conclusions into clear memos for auditors and leadership.
