Job summary

Fortive seeks a collaborative accounting professional to support technical accounting, consolidation, and reporting activities. You will research complex matters, prepare memoranda, support SEC reporting, and lead enterprise-wide consolidation using OneStream.

You will interact with Corporate Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Investor Relations, and external auditors, with career growth in Fortive’s operating companies.

Qualifications

  • CPA with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; 3–4+ years of audit, technical accounting, consolidations and/or financial reporting experience, preferably with public company experience.
  • Strong US GAAP background with ability to research, document, and communicate complex technical accounting matters.
  • Proficiency with financial reporting systems, Excel, and business analysis tools; ability to leverage AI/automation to improve research and documentation.

Job description

We are seeking a collaborative, intellectually curious, and highly motivated accounting professional to support Fortives technical accounting and consolidation activities. Reporting to the Director of Consolidations and Reporting, this role will research and analyze complex accounting matters, prepare technical accounting memoranda and policy updates, support SEC reporting activities, and contribute to enterprise-wide consolidation processes using OneStream. The position offers broad exposure to significant business transactions and accounting topics, including revenue recognition, financing-related initiatives , lease accounting, impairment analyses, foreign currency matters, , acquisitions and divestitures and other complex matters across Fortives operating companies. This role will partner closely with Corporate Accounting, Corporate FP&A, OpCo Finance teams, Investor Relations, Tax, Treasury, Corporate Development, and external auditors, with career progression opportunities across Corporate Finance and Fortives OpCos.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Research and analyze technical accounting matters to support Operating Company and Corporate management, including preparation of technical accounting memoranda, position papers, and policy updates.
  • Partner with OpCos, Corporate Accounting, Corporate Development, Tax, Treasury, and other teams to provide guidance on new business models, complex transactions, and evolving accounting matters.
  • Lead the annual impairment analysis for goodwill and intangible assets.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource on revenue recognition, lease accounting, foreign currency matters, net investment hedging analyses, intercompany accounting considerations, and other complex accounting topics.
  • Support acquisition-related accounting and reporting activities, including purchase accounting, valuation work, opening balance sheet review, and related ASC 805 analyses.
  • Lead enterprise-wide consolidation activities, including actuals, forecasts, budgets, quarterly balance sheet and income statement analytical reviews, CTA validation, and other reporting processes using OneStream.
  • Liaise with external auditors in planning and executing their work, including support for technical accounting reviews, audit matters, and quarterly reporting requests.
  • Support the CAO, Segment CAO, VP of Accounting & Reporting, Director of Consolidations and Reporting, and finance leadership in carrying out focused accounting projects across Fortives operating companies.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and participate in the continuous improvement of Fortives finance processes, utilizing the Fortive Business System.

This individual will take ownership of technical accounting, consolidation, and reporting matters; bring sound judgment to complex issues; and communicate clearly with stakeholders at multiple levels of the organization. To be a strong fit for this opportunity, you will bring the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Required experience: CPA with a bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required; 3-4+ years of audit, technical accounting, consolidations and/or financial reporting experience, preferably with public company experience.
  • Technical accounting expertise: Strong US GAAP background with the ability to research, understand, document, and communicate complex technical accounting matters effectively.
  • Systems and process capabilities: Proficiency with financial reporting systems, Excel, and other business analysis tools, with the ability to leverage AI, automation, and agent-based technologies to improve the efficiency, quality, and consistency of research and documentation; OneStream experience preferred.
  • Leadership and communication: Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate effectively across Corporate and OpCo teams.
  • Professional attributes: Detail-oriented, forward-thinking, collaborative, and committed to consistently delivering high-quality work while operating with uncompromising ethics and integrity.

Pay Range

The salary range for this position (in local currency) is 114,540.00 - 191,245.00
