Job description

We Are:

At Synopsys, we drive the innovations that shape the way we live and connect. Our technology is central to the Era of Pervasive Intelligence, from self‑driving cars to learning machines. We lead in chip design, verification, and IP integration, empowering the creation of high‑performance silicon chips and software content. Join us to transform the future through continuous technological innovation.

You Are:

You are a true partner to our customers, adept at listening and translating their needs into actionable strategies. As a Technical Account Manager, you immerse yourself in understanding the goals, key business initiatives, technical challenges, and infrastructure configurations of German defense clients. You develop a working knowledge that allows you to deliver an outstanding experience and build trusted relationships across the defense ecosystem—including primes, subsystem suppliers, and government/defense organizations. Your approach is consultative and strategic, enabling you to act as a technical leader and advisor who drives technical strategy, adoption, and account orchestration.

You thrive on collaboration, working closely with Enterprise Account Managers to identify opportunities that expand Synopsys’ footprint. You are skilled at planning and prioritizing technical activities, coordinating with presales, technical support, consulting, and training teams, and interfacing with development and marketing. Your deep understanding of customer mission priorities, acquisition processes, technology roadmaps, and program‑level requirements sets you apart. You are motivated by the challenge of influencing and supporting the German Defense ecosystem, bringing innovative solutions and positioning the full suite of Synopsys products to meet evolving requirements. Your passion for delivering value, your strategic mindset, and your ability to orchestrate complex account activities make you a trusted advisor and an indispensable member of the team.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Building and maintaining relationships across strategic defense accounts, including primes, tier suppliers, and relevant government stakeholders, by aligning Synopsys’ solutions with the client’s key business initiatives; the Technical Account Manager is viewed by the customer as their main point of contact for all technical activities.
  • Working collaboratively with the EAM, identifying the necessary strategic long and short‑term technical activities worldwide to achieve the overall sales goals with the agreement of the customer; procuring the required resources worldwide from the Regional Technical, Training and Consulting teams to execute the activity.
  • Developing ecosystem‑level understanding of German defense priorities, procurement processes, and program lifecycles (program budgets, acquisition phases, and funding cycles).
  • Building account‑specific and ecosystem‑wide technical strategies rooted in defense program requirements and customer missions.
  • Shaping technical requirements early in the defense program’s lifecycle.
  • Working with the EAM to leverage proper technical resources to assist in the effort to expand the Synopsys footprint; identifying areas of opportunity at the account to displace competition, add products, add users, and expand globally.
  • Reviewing all technical support activities and working with the local support managers to ensure follow‑up and coaching for technical staff to meet the quality goals.
  • Ensuring a close connection between the team and Synopsys Development for effective response to all defects and enhancement requests.
  • Participating and contributing to field‑factory interlock on Synopsys product enhancement and competitive solution positioning.
  • Leading opportunity qualification and driving technical campaigns for complex engagements, advising on market sizing initiatives.
  • Leading and supporting account‑based marketing strategy, driving technology deployment and adoption including partner solutions.
The Impact You Will Have:
  • Accelerating Synopsys’ presence and influence within the German defense and aerospace industries.
  • Strengthening customer loyalty through exceptional service and technical expertise.
  • Driving revenue growth by expanding existing accounts and securing new business opportunities.
  • Facilitating the adoption of cutting‑edge technologies that advance critical defense projects.
  • Building long‑term strategic partnerships that position Synopsys as a trusted advisor and industry leader.
  • Contributing to the innovation and modernization of defense systems through collaborative problem‑solving.
  • Enabling customers to achieve mission‑critical objectives with world‑class engineering solutions.
What You’ll Need:
  • Required education and degree type: BS or MS or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Required minimum years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS+8, MS+7, or PhD+4 (BS+12, MS+10, or PhD+7 preferred).
  • Demonstrated use of relevant engineering solutions or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA, PLM software packages (Synopsys products preferred).
  • Demonstrated understanding of System Engineering, Model‑Based System Engineering, and Mission engineering analysis.
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering software solutions and technology and how these tools are used in aerospace and defense; ability to understand, represent, and effectively communicate all technical activities associated with the account across all physics and product lines.
  • Fluency in writing and speaking German and English.
  • Professional image, business acumen, and drive to succeed.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 25 % of time (50 % preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and coordination with personnel distributed across multiple global sites.
  • Four years of experience in project/system/application engineering or consulting services preferred.
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C‑level executives preferred.
Who You Are:
  • A strategic thinker with a proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset.
  • Logical problem‑solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills, possessing a sense of urgency.
  • An effective communicator, able to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
  • An adaptable leader who thrives in fast‑paced, evolving environments.
  • A collaborative team player, committed to shared success.
  • Detail‑oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Resilient, resourceful, and passionate about exceeding expectations.
