Responsibilities

Perform general support functions within the specimen processing department, including presorting, pickup, and delivery of specimens to the laboratory.

Conduct imaging and microfilming tasks, as well as centrifugation and aliquoting of specimens.

Accurately enter data related to specimens, ensuring compliance with test ordering requirements and adhering to safety protocols in a biohazard environment.

Maintain a neat and organized work area, demonstrating good safety and cleanliness habits.

Collaborate effectively with team members and communicate with all levels of staff to meet productivity and quality standards.

Adapt to changing procedures and demands, demonstrating flexibility and excellent organization skills.

Required Skills

Strong data entry skills capable of entering up to 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.

Basic understanding of computers; familiarity with laboratory testing and specimen processing is preferred.

Good organizational skills with the ability to learn and understand specimen types and test requirements.

Additional Skills & Requirements

Previous laboratory experience, especially in a hospital or clinical environment, is preferred but not mandatory.

Flexibility to work primarily on night shifts, with availability for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.

Work in a biohazard environment, practicing good safety habits and maintaining a clean work space.

Physically able to sit or stand for extended periods.
