Job summary

Tencent in Palo Alto seeks an experienced tech journalist to cover breaking news, AI and frontier technology, and provide in-depth analysis for a discerning audience.

Role involves high-profile interviews, on-camera field reporting, and collaboration with multimedia teams to adapt reporting across video, podcast, and social formats. Fluency in English (Mandarin preferred) and a track record of accurate, fast reporting are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years as a tech journalist, business journalist, or media correspondent, preferably covering Silicon Valley, AI, or enterprise tech.
• Technical & Business Acumen: Understanding AI, ML, semiconductor ecosystems, and venture capital.
• On-Camera Presence: Comfortable on-camera for field reporting, video commentary, and live events (portfolio required).
• Execution & Agility: Fast-paced environment, strong urgency, meticulous detail, editorial judgment under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Breaking News & Fast-Turn Analysis: Track, verify, and report real-time industry developments under tight deadlines.
• In-Depth Research & Investigative Journalism: Produce long-form features on AI, semiconductors, VC trends, frontier tech.
• Sourcing, Network Building & Interviews: Cultivate confidential sources; conduct high-level interviews with execs and investors.
• On-Camera & Field Reporting: Deliver engaging standups, adapt reporting for video, podcast, and social formats.
• Ecosystem Integration: Maintain presence at major tech campuses, startups, incubators, and labs.
