Job summary

Nestlé’s Research & Development Center in Marysville, OH seeks a Tech Product Development Specialist to lead development of innovative dairy and beverage products, managing bench and pilot plant trials through scale-up and ensuring compliance with corporate guidelines.

The role offers up to 40% telework, up to 10% travel to client sites, and collaboration across R&D, application groups, markets, factories and business units.

Title: Tech Product Development Specialist (Multiple Positions Available)

DESCRIPTION

Duties: Lead product development activities that deliver innovative and competitive products/processes/systems in response to business needs in accordance with requirements. Develop products in a timely manner, using innovative ingredients / processes with ideas generated from consumer and technical insights. Manage bench and pilot plant trials through factory scale-up. Products to comply with 60/40+ and other corporate guidelines as well as agreed upon timelines. Work in project teams within R&D, Application Groups, Markets, Factories and Business Units. Participate in training for Application Groups, including presenting in Product Development workshops. Document all product development activities to Launch (I2L) process. Communicate findings effectively with stakeholders and partners. Ensure intellectual asset management practices are applied (Freedom to Operate, Prior Art, Protection Strategy, etc.). Ensure compliance. Domestic and international travel to client sites required up to 10% of the time for product industrialization support and training purposes. Telework permitted up to 40% of time per week.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum education and experience required: Requires a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Food Science, Food Technology, or a closely related field plus 1 year of experience in the job offered or closely related occupation in the food and beverage industry. Alternatively, employer also accepts Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Food Science, Food Technology, or a closely related field plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or closely related occupation in the food and beverage industry.

Skills Required: Required experience must include 1 year of experience in each of the following:

• Experience with project management in research and development;
• Product Development experience across food and beverage formulation and processing, specifically laboratory experience creating dairy and non-dairy emulsions;
• Experience using ingredients to create emulsions;
• Experience conducting scientific literature review including patents, technologies and IP Management;
• Experience in sensory evaluation of food and beverage products;
• Experience monitoring and determining shelf-life of products under various conditions;
• Experience defining test methods for determination of shelf-life of emulsion-based products;
• Experience using Design of Experiments and SAP in food and beverage trial management within the Pilot Plant and industrial settings;
• Experience creating written product recipes and specifications;
• Experience in product trial process;
• Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams to support new product development and introduction;
• Working with consumer and sensory insight methodologies used in product development of emulsion-based products;
• Experience with contract development and management for external partnerships in research and development activities.

Job Location: 809 Collins Avenue Marysville, OH 43040. Domestic and international travel to client sites required up to 10% of the time for product industrialization support and training purposes. Telework permitted up to 40% of time per week.
