Job summary

UF Health Flagler Hospital is seeking a dedicated care support professional to clean and maintain operating rooms, transport patients, and restock supplies. This role supports the perioperative team by positioning patients, assisting with casts after training, and helping keep ORs clean and ready for procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, BLS within 30 days of hire, and relevant experience in patient care or OR settings.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Transport patients to and from service areas using wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Assist in patient positioning during procedures and prepare extremities as needed.

• Clean and prepare OR suites; restock supplies and maintain sterile areas.
• Restock linen, blankets, and cleaning supplies; manage waste disposal.
• Maintain and clean equipment and rooms; assist with endoscope cleaning with training.

Overview

Schedule: Varies | 40hrs. per week

The primary purpose of this position is to clean and maintain the Operating rooms as well as all equipment; secure supplies for OR team, and restock rooms. Patient care will include positioning, tranferring and transporting patients within the various areas within Perioperative Services.

Responsibilities

• Provides efficient transportation for patients both to and from requesting service areas. Uses wheelchairs, stretchers, beds in an appropriate fashion. Assists patient in and out of wheelchair and stretchers using proper wheel locking procedures. Cleans wheelchairs and stretchers and reports needed repairs to supervisor.
• Assist in positioning patients for surgery. Assist with positioning and holding patient extremities during prep.
• Transport specimens to the laboratory.
• Clean operating room suites and other restricted areas. Terminally clean OR suites as assigned daily. Cleans vertical and horizontal surfaces that collect dust. Cleans tops of windows, doorframes, TV’s, and other high places, using ladder when necessary. Dusts, cleans and polishes furniture including beds.
• Re-stock supplies, linens and fill the blanket warmers in the sterile core as needed. Washes sinks and other plumbing fixtures and replaces supplies, such as paper-towels, soaps and toilet paper as needed. Polishes metal or other bright surfaces, cleaning glass and enamel fixtures with proper cleaning chemicals.
• Clean stretchers and beds and replace sheets. Maintain equipment storage rooms. Perform individual daily extra assignments as assigned.
• Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of equipment to include processing and cleaning of endoscopes with additional training.
• Assist Physicians with the application and removal of casts after additional training.
  Set up the two fracture tables for Orthopedic and Vascular procedures.
• Dispose all linen and trash in the appropriate manner. Empty and replace sharps containers in all rooms.

Qualifications

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Education: N/A

Required Licensure/Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) within 30 days from the date of hire.

Preferred Licensure/Certifications: CNA, or PCA, or MA

Required Experience: Less than one (1) year of patient care (i.e. nursing assistant/surgical tech/ MA), Supply chain, Operating Room or relevant medical equipment experience

Preferred Experience: 3-5 years patient care, Supply Chain, OR, or relevant medical equipment experience

• Must be able to read, spell and do simple math, write clearly and understand written and oral instructions.
