Role:

Splunk is looking for a TechOps Engineer with the ability to provide day-to-day technical expertise for our Splunk Cloud Azure TechOps team and the organization. This position is responsible for making key technical decisions that help drive our operational infrastructure to deliver Splunk’s SaaS customer-facing systems. As a TechOps Engineer, you will interface with cross-functional leaders on strategic initiatives, partner with senior engineers to solve complex problems, and mentor the operational team while interacting with senior leadership to propose solutions. We seek someone who can bring a fresh approach to problems and help us build a top-notch Splunk Cloud TechOps team.

This is a remote role based in the USA, Plano, TX, supporting FedRAMP Moderate / High environments.

Responsibilities:
  1. Own Splunk Cloud in Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS FedRAMP environments.
  2. Collaborate across the organization to deliver high-quality products.
  3. Lead and mentor engineering teams building cloud-based, large-scale data processing environments.
  4. Help new engineers succeed and foster team success.
  5. Attain Splunk Cloud Certified Architect within the first 12 months.
Qualifications:
  • Experience or interest in regulated environments like FISMA or FedRAMP.
  • Experience with Azure cloud environment.
  • Experience working remotely in a team setting.
  • Passion for building and managing distributed systems at scale.
  • Focus on automation and best practices in security, performance, and disaster recovery.
  • Skills in performance monitoring, anomaly detection, and incident analysis.
  • Experience with cloud monitoring tools such as Splunk, VictorOps, Nagios.
  • Strong documentation skills and ability to resolve operational issues efficiently.
  • Deep knowledge of Linux systems, networking, and related certifications (AZ-900 or AZ-104 preferred).
  • Proven ability to influence across teams and manage customer-facing issues.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and on-call as needed.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with cloud environment monitoring using Splunk.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Go or Python, especially for automating Linux tasks.
  • Experience in large-scale distributed cloud service development and architecture.
  • Familiarity with Gitlab, Puppet, Jenkins, clustering, web applications, and YAML.
  • Support experience in FedRAMP Moderate environments.
