Job Summary

Valley Hospital Medical Center, an acute care and teaching hospital in Las Vegas, seeks an experienced Open Heart Scrub Technician to assist cardiothoracic surgeons during Open Heart surgery, including instrumentation and tubings for the heart‑lung (pump) machine.

Responsibilities

• Assist cardiothoracic surgeons with instrumentation of Open Heart surgery.
• Prepare and manage tubings utilized by the heart‑lung (pump) machine.
• Maintain a sterile field and assist in scrub duties throughout the procedure.

Education & Qualifications

High School Graduate or equivalent preferred. Successful completion of a surgical technologist program accredited by a national accrediting organization or a successor organization, or one administered by the US Public Health Service, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard.

Experience

• Minimum of two (2) years scrubbing experience in a major operating room.
• At least one (1) year of experience as an Open Heart Scrub Technician.

License & Certification

• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
• Current BLS Certification.

Other Requirements

Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patient.
