Universal Hospital Services Inc. is hiring a Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join the team at Sandy Pines Residential Treatment Center, a facility dedicated to children and adolescents. The MHT will work under a registered nurse and engage in patient care supervision, lead groups, and ensure a safe environment.
The successful candidate will engage meaningfully with patients, require a high school diploma, and demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving skills. The position offers competitive compensation and benefits including a 401(k) and generous paid time off.
Sandy Pines Residential Treatment Center is a 149-bed residential psychiatric facility that serves children and adolescents aged 5 to 17. It is located in South Florida, near Jonathan Dickinson State Park, at the county line of Palm Beach and Martin Counties.
As a Mental Health Technician (MHT), under the direction of a registered nurse, you will be an active member of the patient treatment team and will: provide milieu management and continuous patient care supervision; interact and role-model with patients; ensure a safe environment; lead therapeutic MHT patient groups; conduct Q-15 rounds and one-to-one patient supervision; and participate in crisis intervention situations as needed. You will follow the therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team and maintain awareness of each patient’s individualized plan of care, including goals and interventions.
12-hour shifts (7 am – 7:30 pm)
Continuous verbal and written communication; hearing ordinary conversation; occasionally hearing high-pitched or low-pitched sounds; continuous firm/simple grasping and fine manipulation of both hands.
