Job summary

Universal Health Services is seeking a Mental Health Technician (with a Bachelors degree) for our BRAND NEW unit in Grand Forks, ND. This PRN role requires ability to work 36 hours per month with one weekend shift, day or night shifts available, and shift differentials offered.

The MHT will perform patient care activities under RN supervision in a 24-bed inpatient unit, observing and recording information for treatment plans and providing emotional support to patients and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum one year experience.

• Ability to manage anger, fear, hostility and aggression in others.
• Ability to manage stress appropriately.
• Proficient in applicable software applications.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Attend to patient personal needs (hygiene, toileting, bathing, dressing, transferring) as required.
• Escort and monitor patients during admissions, transfers and discharges; provide line-of-sight or one-to-one support as ordered by the physician.
• Regularly observe and record patients' behaviors, temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and weight.
• Conduct therapies in accordance with patient's diagnosis and needs.
• Check and document luggage and personal belongings upon admission; maintain patient property list.
• Perform clerical duties including, but not limited to making patient charts, copying forms, filing, ordering supplies, etc.
• Monitor and document patient's food and fluid intake; feeding patients as required.
• Complete and document 15 minute (or less) visual checks on patients per unit/hospital policy
• Insure patient dignity and respect patient values. Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients, families and friends.

Horizon Health is seeking a Mental Health Technician for our BRAND NEW unit called Altru Behavioral Health Center in Grand Forks, ND. This unit will be a 24 bed inpatient unit for both adult and pediatric patients. We are also planning to expand to an additional 24 beds in 2026. Altru Health System and Universal Health Services are working together in expanding inpatient behavioral health services.The MHT will perform selected patient care activities under the supervision of the Nurse Manager. Primary duties include observing and recording patient information pertinent to the treatment plan and reporting this information to the Registered Nurse. This position is also responsible for escorting and monitoring patient activities and attending to their personal needs. The MHT must be capable of physically assisting patients, dealing with patient emergencies.
