JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for supporting Ride and Show by performing nightly maintenance, diagnostics, coding, and repairs on show lighting control systems, equipment, and special effects.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on show lighting controls, including testing, verification, and calibration.
- Diagnose system failures and implement corrective actions, researching defective electronic lighting equipment such as dimmer racks, relay racks, control consoles, lighting fixtures, networking equipment, DMX systems, and wireless data transmission systems. Use electrical theory and troubleshooting techniques, referencing manuals and CMMS systems.
- Log inspections, repairs, and parts used in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), following proper procedures and notifying management as needed.
- Modify show lighting fixtures and equipment as directed by relevant departments, updating focus diagrams and technical prints to ensure proper function and output.
- Complete required training and assist in training new technicians on venue-specific procedures.
- Respond to downtime and repair issues, adhering to safety regulations and engaging positively with team members.
- Modify show lighting control code as directed, documenting all changes and notifying management appropriately.
- Participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities according to company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SCOPE:
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair Ride and Show lighting equipment at USF, IOA, and Volcano Bay.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Technical Production for Theater or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
- 5-7 years in troubleshooting and repairing complex analog/digital lighting systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Programming experience with ETC systems and knowledge of console and PC-based control systems preferred.
- Understanding of signal flow and DMX protocol.
- Experience in the theme park industry and ETCP certification preferred.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Must pass the Show Control Assessment.
- Ability to work third shift.
