Job summary

Planet is seeking a System Validation Tech Lead for the Space Operations team in San Francisco. Lead end-to-end testbed buildup, maintenance, and tooling to validate software and firmware updates before satellites go live.

You will drive prioritization, manage resources through cross-functional POCs, and ensure reliable testbed performance with minimal supervision. This is an in-office role based in San Francisco, five days a week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical/Manufacturing or related technical field.
• 4-6 years of testbed or network engineering experience.
• Experience with Bash, Python or other scripting languages.
• Experience with Linux/UNIX servers, IP Networks, Docker.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and facilitation skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, data-driven decisions.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the roadmap for the buildout and maintenance of all systems validation testbeds.
• Drive stakeholder engagement and prioritization of feature requests; secure required resources.
• Design and develop tooling to enable testbed users to test software/firmware updates.
• Manage testbed hardware and software configuration.
• Maximize testbed uptime by triaging and resolving anomalies with SME support.
