Job summary

ByteDance’s Infra-Compute division is expanding into Physical AI, building data, simulation, training, and deployment platforms for intelligent systems that act in the physical world. You will own multi-quarter roadmaps, translate ambiguous requirements into concrete architecture, and drive end-to-end technical outcomes across multiple teams.

Qualifications

• BA/BS or higher in CS, CE, Robotics, Electrical Eng, AI or related field.
• 5 years of software engineering, ML systems, robotics, or related experience.
• 3+ years as a tech lead.
• Deep expertise in robotic learning, RL, vision-language-action models, or related areas.
• Experience taking complex systems from prototype to production deployment.
• Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Track advances in academia, industry, and open-source communities and contribute insights, software, and publications.
• Own the technical strategy and multi-quarter roadmap for major Physical AI infrastructure areas.
• Lead architecture and delivery across multiple engineers and partner teams; define interfaces and resolve cross-stack trade-offs.
• Define interfaces across the Physical AI lifecycle including data pipelines, simulation, training, evaluation, inference, and deployment.
• Mentor engineers, develop technical leaders, and raise the engineering bar.
