Job summary

Toptal is seeking a Tech Lead to own a portfolio of manufacturing data products, shipping and operating them in a validated production environment. You will lead a small, senior team of data engineers, warehouse engineers, and full-stack developers, partnering with data science to frame problems and provide data and environments for production use.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering, CS, or related technical discipline.
• 3+ years leading technical delivery for software/data teams.
• Advanced SQL with strong data modeling, performance, and cost awareness.
• Strong Python for production data engineering and services.
• Hands-on AWS across compute, storage, orchestration, identity, and observability.
• Deep experience with a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake preferred).
• Git-based workflows, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and release management.
• Understanding of the machine learning lifecycle, including evaluation and deployment.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery of a portfolio of manufacturing data products from concept through validated production use.
• Lead a multi-disciplinary team of data engineers, warehouse engineers, and full-stack developers.
• Resolve technical issues affecting pipeline reliability, performance, and cost.
• Ensure DEV→QA→PROD progression with proper validation, change control, and documentation.
• Collaborate with data science to frame problems and provide data/environments for production use.
• Explore AI-assisted approaches with careful judgment in regulated contexts.
• Work with Product Owners/Architects to shape scope and communicate progress and risks.
• Produce architecture docs, decision records, and runbooks for long-term delivery.
