Job summary

Profound is hiring a Tech Lead Manager for the Context team in San Francisco, on-site. You will balance technical leadership with people management, writing code, and guiding critical decisions across architecture and execution.

This on-site SF role offers a base salary range of $230,000 to $275,000, plus equity and a full benefits package. You will own retrieval quality, data synchronization, and the memory model powering our AI-driven context across integrations and customers.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience.
• 2+ years in people management or tech leadership.
• Strong Python proficiency.
• Rust preferred for performance-sensitive components.
• Experience building production search or retrieval systems.
• Experience with third‑party API integrations at scale.
• PostgreSQL expertise and multi‑tenant data modeling.
• Experience hiring senior ICs and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Context roadmap and partner with the CTO and product leadership on priorities.
• Hire, coach, and grow a team of 4–8 engineers, including interview loops and performance calibration.
• Drive architecture decisions on retrieval quality, memory schemas, and partial-failure syncs.
• Own retrieval quality as a measurable product surface with regression prevention.
• Ship code yourself on the highest‑leverage parts of the system.
• Be the engineering point of contact when integrations break or data goes stale.
• Represent Context with product, sales engineering, and the exec team on data access and security.
• Collaborate closely with agent-product teams as primary internal customers.
