As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. As Tech Lead Manager, you will guide the technical vision and engineering team shaping Google’s next-generation AI commerce platform, featured at Google I/O 2026. Balancing strategic leadership with execution, you will mentor engineers and bridge product strategy with scalable systems to power AI Native Commerce.
Our team develops the foundational Universal Commerce Protocol and API layer enabling AI agents to interact directly with commerce backends across Google surfaces, including AIM and Gemini. You will lead critical initiatives spanning agent-to-merchant protocol design (discovery, cart, checkout), native system connectors, cross-organizational integrations with Search and DeepMind, and default-secure transactional trust and safety frameworks.
