Job summary

SMS InfoComm Corporation in Grapevine, TX is seeking an Advanced Diagnostician to test, troubleshoot, and replace parts on servers sent for diagnosis and repair. The role supports a 2nd shift and requires a high school diploma with strong server and networking fundamentals.

You will document results, collaborate with QC and engineering to keep repairs flowing, and maintain parts usage. Expect a fast-paced environment in a warehouse/industrial setting with a focus on reliability and quality

Qualifications

• Know basic server architecture and components.
• Able to assemble server parts to restore function.
• Run and interpret testing diagnostics and error codes.

• Document symptoms, tests, and fixes clearly.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, and diagnose servers.
• Replace parts as needed and verify repairs.

• Collaborate with QC, repair teams, and engineering.
• Provide backup support for QC and inspections.

The Advanced Diagnostician will be responsible for testing, trouble shooting, and replacement of parts on servers sent to SMS for diagnosis and repair.

Responsibility

Daily Responsibilities 90%

• Inspect, test, and diagnose servers
• Replace parts as needed
• Conduct and analyze server stress tests
• Document all symptoms, test results, and parts replaced in shop floor tool
• Collaborate with QC, whole unit repair, and inspections personnel
• Provide back up for QC, inspection, whole unit repair, and motherboard testing
• Maintain parts consumption
• Communication link between engineering and operations
• Other duties as assigned by leadership

Team building & leadership 10%

• Maintain and nurture positive work environment
• Work and collaborate with other teams such as warehouse, shipping, engineering, etc.
• Follow process for system and parts management

Qualifications: Other Personal Skills Required

• Know basic server architecture

Education and Experience

• Education High school diploma or equivalent technical experience, certifications in Server support and architecture desired
• Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing servers, experience with computer tools such as email, spreadsheets, and call tracking or shop repair tools
• Experience with replacing parts on servers
• Experience with server configuration
• Good written and verbal skills; needs to document errors and repairs
• Industry/Environment: Prefer to have worked in a PC or server type of environment
• Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
